Yer pretty much SOL currently, you can apply for an emergency service...  but who know if you qualify...

As a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, Passport centers have suspended processing and shipping overseas photo-digitized passport (OPDPs) to all Embassies and Consulates.  As a result, adult passport renewal by mail service has been suspended until further notice.   Please be aware that we will not be able to process any mail-in passport applications at this time.  We do still have the ability to produce an emergency photo digitized passport (EPDP) which is valid for one year.  If you have an emergency request, please e-mail [email protected] (Bangkok) OR [email protected] (Chiang Mai).

A lot of discussion in a FB travel group here in the USA re turn around time, and it's NOT looking good.

I think people are being told to expect 8 weeks, but LOTS of posts from people who have been waiting since early March. I think they are currently discouraging anyone who does not have an "emergency" basis (death in family, illness requiring travel, etc.) and they require proof of the emergency.

My passport expires before my trip (hopefully!) in November, and my plan for now is to wait until they start opening for expedited turn around and use an agency to expedite it.

Airlines use the Timatic database to make determinations about your eligibility to travel.  The there’s lots of portals online where you can enter your travel information and passport information and get the same results the airline will.

As a jackass who was boarded a flight with a short passport validity I asked a ramp agent.

I did mine last year all by mail and also got the Passport ID for an extra charge. I got so I could carry it (the ID) with me at all times. 

I sent it in by DHL( I had a location near me) to BKK and got it back by EMS. Follow the directions and include the Baht via a Bank Draft and it's easy.

One thing that got me, is they sent me an email notice mine was in the mail but never sent a tracking number. My neighbor swears this isn't a good process and it could get lost. I had zero issues with it

call me crazy but i do mine 1 year before it expires yea i lose the year but gain 9 more with the new Passport.
