Do we have any Grand Avenue owners here? Have you heard anything about long term fixes to avoid future flooding? I don't understand why Centara and The Urban didn't have similar issues.

If it wasn't for those 2 things (flooding and sewer) I'd stay here with no hesitation.

never gotten an answer as to the flooding...as for the sewers...never had an issue for Bldg C

Will be available for rent starting May 1 again if anyone is interested long term...i.e. six months or more

It’s really simple - the garages are a few meters below street level and when the water over-ran the low retaining wall, the pumps were unable to keep up with the sudden influx of thousands of gallons per minute.

I know they sandbagged the retaining wall to increase the height before spillover, blocked the driveway and put in new much larger pumps as well as having portable spares on hand.

The problem is that everything is predicated on and scaled to the floods that have come before. So all it takes is another record rainfall and flood, and the garages will be underwater again. There are simply no pumps this side of New Orleans that can keep the garages from flooding when the retaining wall is overtopped or breached by flooding.

I say all this as someone who lived there for a year and a half.

If I still lived there and had a car or an expensive bike, I would move them to high ground if/when a major storm hit.

I understand why the flooding happened....I have never gotten an answer from management as to what they will do to fix it.  I will get some answers next month....or at least some lip service.

As I tried to explain, there is really no way they can “fix” it, other than surround the entire property with a dike higher than a 200-year flood level. Not sure that has been done.

What they have done already should work for a typical rainfall, but another hundred-year flood? Good luck with that.

I think the real question is, what have they done to improve and expedite reimbursement for damages if another big flood happens again. . . my understanding is a few people didn’t get reimbursement for a few months after the floods.
