Christmas Dinner 2018

Cafe Le Mar and Cafe Del Mare are two completely different establishments.

Le Mar is on Jomtien Beach Road, near to Cetus, as mentioned. It has been there for years. It's a bistro/pizzeria style place. That is the 795B place mentioned. Bahtbuses go past the front door.

Del Mare is a new upmarket place, much further away towards Na Jomtien and very near the Glass House. You have to go up to Sukumvit first, turn right towards Bang Saray, go past the traffic lights by the court, then do a U-turn, then turn left and drive a fairly long way back down to the beach. That is the 1700B brunch mentioned. There is no regular Bahtbus though they will make special trips, of course.

I have heard some good things about Laong's. It is on Jomtien Second Road a bit past soi 9 I think. It is across the street from Rhinehart condos. I have not been here just yet, but will likely try tonight. Obviously, no direct baht bus route,  but you can take a motorbike from most places in Jomtien for 40 baht.

Here is their Xmas offering.

I thought about this for some time and then I realised that you meant Rimhad aka Jomtien Beach Condo (JBC). :)

Rhinehart sounds more like a 70s hit for Glen Campbell.

Sorry - The Thai GF calls it Lynhart and I morphed that into something meaningless. Oops.

This link has a list of links for the Holiday options in many restaurants for both Pattaya and Bangkok.

The links on that page are from 2016.  There doesn't appear to be an updated version for 2018, but you can find  some Christmas dinner offers for this year  here.

Also, scratch the Chunky Monkey for Christmas Dinner.  According to a post and photo on another board,  Christmas Dinner has been canceled due to a "kitchen walk out, "  whatever that means.

Cabbages % Condoms could be an option for those who aren't interested in traditional western Christmas fare.

After an atrocious Christmas dinner in 2016, Hooters is this year sticking to what it does best:  booze, calendars and attractive waitresses.

I had Thanksgiving Dinner at Tigglebitties and it was very good, with a large portion of turkey:

No no no. Lettuce leaf is for Thanksgiving; mistletoe is for Christmas. [emoji23][emoji23]

The home-style Christmas Turkey at THB 8,500++ per set!!!

 Surely that's a typo?

Some sort of typo, for sure, but it could have to do with the word "set."  It may mean (to them, at least) something different than "meal."

To continue the Scandinavian theme:  Livv on th Darkside and Akvavit in Jomtien:

Untitled-81.jpg.1a4171b785760568d0ffdb3d12a7c755.jpg

Here's a translation of the Akvavit Christmas Eve menu:

"Akvavit's Christmas buffet showcases a giant and traditional Christmas buffet with lots of delights!
The 24th of December:

"First session 17:30 to 20:00 and second session 20:30 until late!

Price 1,450 Baht and for children under 13, 800 Baht. We offer mulled wine and gingerbread cookies on arrival. Only bookings with 50% deposit are accepted! Book now at 038-233672. Welcome!"

And if money isn't a problem, this will be one of the best- if not the best- Christmas buffet in Pattaya:

I do not think I have seen Gian's in the thread. Here is their Xmas menu. It is actually a standing set of offerings over two weeks. Great food here, but pricey to say the least.

Oh, and just to get the sticker shock value going. Here is their New Years menu at 3,990 a person. That does not include drinks.

I wonder if the Chunky Monkey will have an offering?

They are doing a no turkey Christmas Dinner, with a choice of two meats and trimmings for 199 baht.

We are getting into "last minute" territory, so a few final suggestions:

Event-Gourmet-Menu.jpg.484b6e0bf2faf9f7a1e3f31deb001fe0.jpg

That's a pretty impressive buffet, especially the mains and dessert, for 870 baht.  I may try it on Christmas Eve.

And one in Na Jomtien and one for those who don't care about Christmas Dinner.  BonChon is better than KFC!

Since this is  likely to be my final pre-Christmas post in this thread:

You're welcome!  Why not try a Spam nativity complete with Baby Cheesus for Christmas?

Or symbolically combine Spam with muff-diving through musubi (sushi with Spam), which is hugely popular in Hawaii.
