My experience, done it many times: fly economy and if the queue in passport control is too long, just walk over to the fast track. Nobody has ever asked me for a ft pass at the actual desk. Works well for me.

This is embarrassingly bad advice as they always want it. Even if you are in J/C they want the pass not the boarding pass, so neither is a path to failure.

For information, passengers 70 and over can use the priority queue, saves a lot of time. They also have one in departures immigration.

It has worked at least 3 times for me.

100% correct. I used to commute regularly between Bangkok and Sydney (every 2 months), I always got asked for a card, pretty much as soon as I joined the queue.

well, consider yourself a lucky man indeed

it happened to me many times seeing people rejected by the police officer when trying that trick  with the consequent reforwarding to the non priority queque

that said it happened also I was regularly holding a priority pass and didn't got it taken by the on duty officer (so I saved it for the next time)

I feel is actually  just a matter of casuality and everything depends by many factors (mood of the officer, empathy with the officer itself, etc.)

by my experience I'm sure Qatar and Emirates supply to you a FTL pass aboard (usually along with the immigration card)

if this doesn't happen just ask to the hostess/stewart and, if for any reasons you can get it, just proceed in any case through the fast track lane and show your business class ticket, guarantee you won't be rejected

what I use to do when I know I'm gonna flying economy is to preventively buy online some fast track passes; it costs you a few bucks (around 10 Euro each - but variable website by website) and I get the passes mailed straight from Thailand to my mail box

or, alternatively, for the newbies (but I've to say a little bit more expensive, approx 20/25 Euro x pass), you can settle an online appointment with an agency (always through the internet) and an hostess will await you holding a signboard with your name just out the mobile corridor connecting the aircraft to the door entrance of the airport and then she'll escort you up to the FTL door

the reason they want the fast track card rather than the boarding card is cos they are all stamped with whatever airline code. they collect all the cards used and i guess bill each airline for the service provided x the number of cards used

note the stamp................

below the old variety...................
