View Talay 6 vs The Base Condos - Central Pattaya

Explorer8939

Recommended Posts

There was a topic on this, but it seems to have disappeared, so I will try to summarize it.

View Talay 6 has larger units, but is more expensive. Getting ladies in is easier, since they can talk to security and come up to your condo.

The Base has fairly tiny units, but is cheaper. There is some noise due to nearby construction.

i stayed at View Talay 6 and liked it, but I am interested in trying The Base, as well. Any thoughts on whether The Base would be good for a month?

Base not for me like living in a rabbit hutch. :D

I was perfectly happy in a 35 m2 The Base condo for a couple of months last year, but this year I stayed in The Avenue on Soi 15.  I think VT6 is worth a bit more than The Base, but it seems to be priced about twice as much.

The thing is that within both VT6 and The Base all the condos are different, with different orientations, floor elevation, furniture and internet arrangements, so you can't really generalise.  The rent prices owners try for vary as well of course, and no doubt there are good value VT6 condos and overpriced Base ones.

To summarize -- if you have the money, stay at VT6. If you can't afford it, The Base would be your choice. I think it's pretty obvious.

IMHO, The Base has a good value for the money and VT6 is now a bit overpriced. Apart from that, I don't see any advantages in The Base over VT6.

How was The Avenue?

Great, IMO better than The Base and I can't find anything in VT6 that's IMO anywhere near value for money.  I intend to rebook exactly The Avenue condo I stayed in last time.  That's to say that IMO there are condo options in that part of Pattaya that are better than either VT6 or The Base.

I do have the money, but that doesn't mean I want to splurge it on poor value things.  Remember the old saying that "rich people stay rich by spending as if they are poor, and poor people stay poor by spending as if they are rich"?

This was the view from my Base condo last year, and very good it was.  Maybe you should stay in The Base once to get this view every morning (and fuck girls on the balcony at night with Pattaya spread out below you).  Once you've stayed in The Base once, well the condos are a little small, it's a pain walking all the way around to LKM, it's a pain having to go all the way down to pick up visiting girls at the front security gate, and maybe you've got used to that view, so perhaps you'd want to stay somewhere else after your first Base stay.  But for one stay, yes, IMO this view makes it worth staying at The Base (NB make sure your condo has the right height and orientation to actually get this view)

That looks like the front view, so it'll be even more expensive than the more common VT6 side view.  It's a great view, agreed, but I'm sure it costs.  VT6 is better and deserves a bit of a higher price, but it's for individuals to judge if it deserves as much of a price premium as it's charged at.

PS I don't think the new construction in front of The Base has been mentioned so far in this thread.  It'll be noisy and partly block the view.  It's well written about elsewhere, but if you are thinking of booking The Base be sure to have a think about that new building being built in front.

The thread is still there and it's a good read. Just under a different section.

I've stayed at The Base for a month. I was happy with it, but sure there is much to whine about it. I'm not much of a whiner. I'd probably choose it again if I'd found a 15-20k deal and stayed for a month. Just because of the quality and location. For 2 months I'd probably look for something else.

I was looking between the Base and Centara condos for a month's stay - great views from the former but the small rooms and the design put me off and I booked a top floor(8) pool view studio at the latter as I like the location off Soi B - I am however staying initially for 10 days at VT6 with DW - you can't beat the location but too expensive for me for long stay.

That's a great view, but I've been in the Central Mall parking area and some of those VT6 units views see only the garage.  Some of those units are still a shell.

You can chose which unit you rent and specify which direction it faces.

They can send photos of the specific apartment you are renting, including the view.

I have been looking at the Soi 15 condos, but they seem as expensive as View Talay 6, and many require long contracts.

where is a good source for rentals at The Avenue and other Soi 15 condos?

I usually stay in VT6 so can't comment on Base or Avenue but I pay around 22k for 16nights which equates to just under 1400 per night. Great view (make sure you get walking st. side), Laundry at the bottom are a ripoff though. Pool at the back is fairly clean and not too busy plus it's always fun trying to beat the security guard in pushing the button for the lift :)

The Avenue is OK.

-ve :  Our room at the Avenue was not clean and the bedding had skid marks over it. The better half spent some time cleaning it and scrubbing the sheets and pillowcases clean.

Internet was iffy

The very nice man at Hallmark bike rentals warned us not to park the bike in the underground parking area if there is a lot of rain.

+ve:  Nice room (once cleaned up).

Good pool with large circular bubbly thing attached to the pool  Good seating around the pool and not too busy.

Lift from ground level and bike/car parking level.

24 hour motorbike taxis outside, 7/11 and 'The Avenue' shops a few steps away.

About 8 mins stroll to LK Metro.

The apartment we rented was very quiet, although I was told not to get an apartment right next to the street, as that, according to them, was more noisy.

I cannot remember exactly what I paid, it was either 12k or 14k for 30 days.

Type in "The Avenue Residence" to your search engine or try the link below.

I found the security guards very friendly and surprisingly awake all night and chirpy at VT6. I understand what you are saying about the race to the lift button.

Not like the night time security in the condo I rented for 4 years off Pattaya Klang....

I booked it over Christmas and New Year for 30 days, having paid electric and cleaning fees on exit, it cost me less than 2k a night overall.

IMO the view from The Base top platform was comparable to that from VT6, though maybe not quite as good.  Comparable? Yes IMO.  Of course this view will be thoroughly spoilt by the new condo block currently in building progress in front of The Base.

Sorry no beautiful sunset.

I paid about B700 or B800 a night for a stay more than 30 days over Xmas/NY in both the Base (view as photoed above) and The Avenue.  Sorry, I'm not going to reveal exactly which condo I like in The Avenue since I haven't yet booked my next stay.  The Base condo I stayed in is no longer being rented out for less than 6m.

One bit of advice, don't rent on the Soi Diana side, I've been told the noise from the bars is annoying and goes on till 3am.

I rented on the soi Diana side of The Base, obviously from my room pics.  The bar music and noise started about 6pm, but I didn't mind it early in the evening since it sounded like a party getting going that I should get my act together and join.  Bar noise was an exciting foretaste of the evening ahead.  The bar noise stopped about 2am, and that wasn't a problem to me because I was still out until then.  I was on the 24th floor so it wasn't that loud on the balcony, and I could hardly hear it with the windows shut, but it would be louder if lower and closer.  To me overall then, the soi Diana bar noise wasn't a problem.

I think high on the soi Diana side is the preferable part of The Base to book, as it's only from there that you get the southwards signature view towards WS, and you're also in the tower with the roof pool.
