Thank you for your reply. I can load boxes myself so looking for an android box not fully loaded from a retail store.

Will keep Footymadstreams in mind as I am aware his service and boxes are good value.

As you know how to load a box, the best way for you is to look on the Internet. A good place to start is looking on https://www.lazada.co.th/ (but only for Thai vendors). Footymadstreams sell loaded Hi Media H8 Plus at 5'300 B but you can get it unloaded for less than 3'000 on Lazada. Also 4'000 for the HiMedia Lite than you can find less than 2'000 on Lazada, and maybe 1'500 on Chilindo (auctions).

Tukcom and Harbour can have good "exceptional" promotions, but you need to be there at that moment, and outside these promotions prices may not be that good...

Thanks for your great reply. Will check out above places and see what their prices are like.

If their prices are not good I will give her my box and get another one from Lazada for myself.

Can someone explain what an Android box is? Thanks

It's a small 'box' which runs a flavour of android most commonly known as a kodi box. It allows you to stream things like movies and TV channels for a very small price however depending on the country you are in you will be infringing upon copyrights so its common practice to use a VPN.

In this case, think of it as a micro form (very small/mini) computer that plugs into your TV via HDMI that allows all you can eat movie/tv/live tv for a very low cost compared to the official services provided by say Sky, Virgin Media, BT etc...

Good on you mate. Thanks for that. I have heard of "kodi" before (but just thought it was something you installed on a PC), but as you can see from my posts above I thought OP was referring to something else.

Cheers.

An Android box allows you to stream movies/tv shows etc from the internet. You can also surf the web, check your emails etc. Watch Youtube also.

Google Kodi and other streaming apps such as Terrarium tv, Megabox, Mobdro and you will get some more information.

Australian tv, UK tv etc is also available if you want it.

For a very small amount of money you will have a whole world of entertainment available to you.

You're welcome my friend, I thought you would of heard of a Kodi box, very common name for them. Honestly, you can get a really cheap android box like I did for my pop. An MXQ S805, I paid just under £20.. I then bought an SD card and wiped the android OS then instead LibreELEC which is just enough for 'kodi', or the bare minimum. I then found a bunch of free apps and bought an IPTV subscription off eBay, jobs a gooden and beats paying over the odds.

I know that probably meant fuck all to you, but if you have anybody who has some technical ability to watch a YouTube video and follow along you can save some $$$ and get them to do the simple steps.

All understood. But how do you run the VPN on the box itself (VPN was mentioned above)?

Or can you actually install something like openvpn on the box?

Anyway. I'll keep this in mind. Might be a nice wee project for when I get back from May's trip.

If you want to buy a box in Tukcom, got to Amego on the 3rd Floor , turn sharp left as you come out of the lift. He will also load apps for you all free.

Some MXQ can be found very cheap now.

759 B for this one on Lazada and I saw this one on Chilindo going for less than 500 B !

At such low price, the risk is like Zero :)

You install your paid or unpaid Vpn on your box from the Google play store.

I am using Nord Vpn and smart Dns at the moment.

If you are going to buy a box ensure your are running Android 5 and above to allow you to run Kodi 17.6.

Like anything else in life you need to buy good quality if you want good performance.

Pm me if you need any help.

You can even go onto lowendbox.com, buy a very cheap vps and setup squid proxy then run all your traffic through it. Saves the crazy VPN costs as well as having to piss about with the OpenVPN app, I highly recommend doing that.

You can get a dedicated datacenter IP which is exactly the same as a VPN for literally £10 per year.

Ahh, of course. I have just seen an Openvpn app on the play store.

I have thought about doing this in the past. Never got around to it though.

Made my own dns server a few years back, just for shits and giggles. That was fun
