But.....

We are talking about places being pronounced in a different way than how we write it.

 

So it is a very similar example.

 

And as it is a forum about Thailand.

Watching all the reporting ... Can't understand why reporters from the country that supposedly owns the "English" language pronounce this as LESTER.

It's just a term for the English dialects.

 

People from Liverpool area are know as Scousers

 

People from Birmingham are Brums

 

People from London are Cockneys

 

People from Newcastle area are Geordies

 

All speak the same language but with different accents

Scouser I believe,come from the Latin "scousal" or "scoose " .

To thieve with believed impunity of ones actions.

Think that's right.

A lot of words receive angican pronunciations but have latin or greek origins. 

City places for me is the big one French for London is Londres...it is a place it should be called what it is called, same for Paris(Paree)
