Watching all the reporting ... Can't understand why reporters from the country that supposedly owns the "English" language pronounce this as LESTER.

... Somehow skipped a few letters I reckon

Worldpunter is correct.

'Leicester' is phonetically pronounced as 'LESTER'

Conversely, 'JAGUAR' is pronounced as it is written and never pronounced as 'JAG-WAR'.

Anyone whose native tongue is English will know that.

As there are so many variations of Grammar and pronunciation throughout the world since the English language has spread it's wings over Millennia, I thought I would share this as it might be of interest.

If the Aussies and Septics don't like our language..get you fucking own  :WinkGrin1:

I imagine the pronunciation is something to do with the Romans....what have they ever done for us?

Any insights?

It is our language so we will say it how we want.

You lot should do as you are told.

Be seen but not heard would be nice.
