Mouse freezes when PC wakes from sleep

I had the mouse here from a previous PC. I also have a USB mouse here.

My problem was there are not enough USB ports on the back of this PC.

I didn't really want to use one of the front ones for the mouse.

I've not had a problem until about a week ago. Odd that it should suddenly start doing this!

Its unlikely but not impossible to be something windows based, as the non usb connector uses a rock solid low level windows driver.

However, you could rule it out by rolling windows back to the state in was in say 2 weeks ago:

...it will only work if the option has been enabled in win settings for the last couple of weeks.

-------

Could be the mouse is on the way out so its internal electronics are not waking up when the pc does.

Yes, I may try a new mouse.

I've changed the power settings for now.

Thanks for all (sensible) suggestions.

Depends how curious you are to find out the cause, it would annoy me if I solved it but never knew, it will even annoy me if you don't find out lolz

But, if you don't care the easiest thing to do is just swap out parts until the problem stops or turn off the power management like you've just done.

The only thing that's changed recently is that I've had to buy a new printer.

Don't see how that could have caused this!

One of the Windows Updates refuses to install as well!
