I thought this had pretty much died down, as there seems to be little or no coverage over here - the news is dominated by the Global Financial Crisis, so I guess this gets left behind. Pretty shocking and I am surprised there is nothing being mentioned on the BBC.

 

Is it just confined to BKK?

I rather hope not mate but I fear the worse. There are two big rallies planned for monday and the opposing factions are planning to "face off".

 

Hopefully the authorities will keep them apart.

In NZ only heard there were riots but they did say 1 person died.

 

To see that leg missing.... fucking bad!

I had no idea things were so bad. I feel for that poor fucker with his leg blown off. Glad I wasn't there.

There were two versions of the story about the guy with the blown off leg; first the police said that he may have been carrying some sort of explosive device that detonated accidentally- the second and far more likely was that the police fired chinese made tear gas cannisters which were faulty and caused a small explosion when they detonated. There is so much propoganda and counter propoganda going on at the moment. Monday will be crucial with Taksin's red army descending on Bangkok. They should outnumber the PAD and it is rumoured they will go on the offensive if the tanks roll out in a coup in support of the army-backed PAD. All in all a real mess.

RDX explosives...should have just been tear gas but as the saying goes "This Is Thailand" or T.I.T for short.
