Tried the silkworm bugs once. They taste like EXTREMELY chewy peanut butter. I managed about half a cup of them before my jaw pleaded fatigue & I gave the rest to a street kid.

The insects themselves are okay, its that old rancid oil that they are fried in, that is the problem.

AVOID!

Well if you want 'street cred,' then you have to go for the biggest, nastiest one, not small grubs or worms.

Eating the bugs doesn't bother me , but how the street cart people got them does bother me, after I was told by an ex pat that they are collected by spraying an area with strong pesticides to kill the insects....., don't know if it's true , but it's enough of a reason for me to leave them alone.

I hope that isn't really true, but that will now be my go to excuse if anyone tries to get me to eat any. I used to but I'm too old to be doing shit like that anymore. Same with the balut in PI. Been there, done that.

All those insects are farmed nowadays.

I enjoy the little sun dried frogs that are then deep fried. They go down well with a cold beer.

No real extreme taste just a salty crunchy snack

Look like another choice for me!!frog, spider & worms

One word of advice....stay away from the scorpions. too chewy and too hard to pretend that are real food

Thanks for the advice...at all odd stay away from scorpions...don't let my friend that is going with me see this if not confirm on my bugs menu

Grasshoppers are the substitute of the popcorn. Nice to eat when drinking beer or in the movie. Yummy.
