well we all like something different nature of the beast. I was extremely happy with the product at Beefeater and there price point. Not tried Steak and Co to review waiting for terry lee to take me there for lunch or Dinner :-) having been in the wholesale meat business for 35 years I look forward to giving them a try.

I think an issue with some of the steak you get in Thailand depends on who cooks it.  Many Thais just don't know how to cook a steak properly.  Generally I avoid beef over there now.  Too many disappointments.

As said by some of the above posters, I wait till I get home, buy some good ole beef eye fillet and cook it at home.  Good steak isn't cheap here but to get a decent one over there will cost you more.

Sorry to burst any Yank or Aussie bubbles, but the best steak-producing countries in the world are (in order of excellence):

1. Argentina

2. Japan (specifically WAGYU beef)

3. USA

4. Scotland

5. Australia

However, bear in mind that each of the above countries produces varying grades of beef, so even Argentina can churn out an inedible steak at the wrong end of the scale, whilst Australia will sometimes turn out a real award-winner.

I have eaten steaks across the world, but the countries where I have enjoyed consistently high quality steaks (from various source countries) are Italy and Spain. Both countries just seem to take their food a little bit more seriously than most other places I have been.

I am also ashamed to admit that the average excuse for a steak served up in the UK is poor quality, undersized and badly stored/prepared. The notable exception is specialist restaurants like the Gaucho Grills in London, but be prepared to pay through the sphincter for the privilege. The same steak in Spain or SOUTHERN Italy costs one-third to half the price and the service is friendlier too.

For that reason, I tend to avoid ordering steak anywhere that there is a larger risk of disappointment. As Mr21 (and others) have said above, stick to the local dishes, which is what Thais do best, and save the steak for when you go home or when you travel elsewhere. Or if you must gamble, stick to the recommended restaurants mentioned above.

Experts warn that a laptop can seriously damage your sperm....

Although in my experience, not as much as sperm can damage your laptop!

I once went to Kobe for a few days when I was in Japan. And the steak there is not to be trifled with. Local and awesome both.

In fact, I started eating less meat after that whole trip, since after that I just found it sad to eat steak that I knew beforehand would be terrible in comparison.

I agree with this list. I've been to the Swedish owned Beefeater several times cause many of my Swedish friends like eat there. It's OK restaurant but nothing I can't cook myself so I prefer do my beef at home. It's way cheaper and I know I get a decent portion. It's more fun get a couple of friends and have a barbecue dinner at home with cocktails, good wine and whiskey after.

I never tried Steak & Co. Their homepage looks pretty nice, tho. Best steak I've eaten here so far is in Hilton's buffet on Sukhumvit Bangkok. So tender and perfectly red like I want it, just outstanding! But I normally like to buy the Australian AAA tenderloin in Foodland for better dinners at home with guests.

Add some pics of my way of barbecue tenderloin. Have to say it's really hard get a decent pasta bolognese so my friends prefer pay me to do it? Can't be stingy on the red wine in the sauce and enough herbs! Even Beefeater make a shame of it...

Do it at home? Yeah  I usually like my own food much more then resturang food. The reason why I go out and eat anyway in pattaya, is becuase it is fun to do that sometimes, you want to have a excuse to go out when your are on holiday and there is not much more to do then hit the bars and eat. I also usually dont have cooking facilities in the room in pattaya and I usually dont know how long I will stay at that place so I usually dont see the point in buying a lot of stuff and make the food in the room. But Im guess you are an expat?

But nice photos and nice presented meals. Hope it taste good as well, even though I dont like red meat and I hate onions.:)

Beefeater is ok, Steak & Co. is fine, but the best steak in Thailand is from Neil's tavern in the Wireless/Wittayhu area of Bangkok

Been there since 1964...I think

Like walking into a "Mob" eating house...lol

BUT....the steaks are fantastic

Livingstone's in Soi 33 used to do a brilliant Argentinian Tenderloin..... but it's changed hands now....and I haven't been back for several years

The other Aussie place in 33....Tenderloins....does very good steaks & #1 Burgers

The place on top of the Landmark is also very good.....but take a large hand bag....or a healthy credit card

Just wish I could still eat Steak.....I loved it...

No burst bubbles.  Even within your list there are varying degrees of quality.   I was never under the impression that any nations steak could definitively be ranked the best.  Some in general are better than others.

The real point I was making is that thai steak isn't the highest quality to start with.  IMO though their pork is far better than in the USA.  Since I get to rotate between US and Thailand I eat steak in US and pork/thai food in Thailand.  Best of both worlds.

It depends on where you live and what you are used to eating, I much prefer grain fed Canadian beef over corn fed US beef, but I am Canadian and this is what I have grown accustomed to.

A very true statement. I love Alberta Beef having grown up in Alberta. I now live in Japan but still prefer USA Beef and Alberta beef to Japan's Kobe and Wagyu as to me its too fatty.

As far as Steak in Pattaya, never tried it so cannot say but would think quality would not be the best.

Without a doubt you can get top grade US and Aussie steak in Pattaya now, it may make you cry a little when you get to the pay counter :Evil_Grin2:  but it is widely available.

For the same reason I won't "dine" at a thai restaurant in America.  The price for thai food here is ridiculous.

I just watched a show on the food network, not about beef but about how people rate it. They made two identical chocolate cakes, one round and one rectangle, and had people taste them telling them the round one was a $15 cake bought at the grocery store and the rectangle one was a $59 Gourmet cake bought at the fancy cake store at the other end of the mall. Every single person rated the more expensive cake better not just a little but worth every penny better.

Seen a similar taste test about beef in a magazine where you tasted beef, Kobe Beef was not even in the top 5, it was just some grass feed breed, I can not remember which one but it beat Kobe, Texas , Australia. It had a better marble, not too much fat but enough, taste and tenderness.

So it is not about quality all the time it is about marketing too. Not saying Thailand has good beef, it doesn't. They also do not have many cattle ranches, why I have no idea. They have a very similar climate and vegetation to Florida, so they should have no problems producing  organic, grass-fed beef.  Florida produces a lot of beef, not Texas amount but the cost of land in Florida is much more expensive.

WHEN IN THAILAND NEVER TRUST YOUR FARTS. :68:

IT MAY BE A SQUIRT NOT JUST A FART. :SoWhat1:
