Alan, i have been in such situation in the past, at work...

a collegue of mine was smelling bad... none of us where happy, so, i had to figure something out...

This is the sollution i came up with to talk about it...

i started talking to him, asking, ...

me:.. hey, feeling good today ?

him: yes, no problem.

me: sure ? I thinks, something's wrong with you, i have the impression you are sick a bit...

him: ?? why do you think ?

me: wel, you don't have a healty odeur... everybody complains about the smell...

him: smell ?? What you mean ?

me: don't you notice it yourself, your smell ? Maybe something's wrong with your nose, having a cold maybe ? For sure you are smelling NOT good ! Think you should go and see a doctor about it.

him: a doctor ? i'm not feeling sick..

me: so, you do not notice yourself you are smelling badly ? Then, now you know, i am telling it to you. Next time when you come back to work, be sure you aren't smelling bad nomore ! Take a bath.

cant you see the other peoples are bothered wit it ? You have to show some respect for the others, and smelling bad is NO sign of respect !

That's the way the conversation was done, the next day he came back to work, leaving his stinky shoes at home ! Nocely washed and shaved as wel.

Thats crazy people out there don't car about taking car of themselves. I think i would have definitely said something if it was my business. You can't have your customers walking out from someone like that. There's definitely polite ways and rude ways of doing so but i would have just been polite and straight forward. Gross knowing that some people just don't care.

Plenty of businesses I have been involved with have banned customers after they didn't take the first warning. I would not like the be the one who walks in and finds out the girl of his dreams is barfing all over the hognam because some smelly git tried to barfine her.

I'd have kicked him out no questions asked straight away. And I would have told him the reason why. I hate poor personal hygeine, no excuse for being like that.

...if it was a buddy of mine I would definetely say something, but

about a year ago...we met some real cool guys over at Lee Bar in the evening

from different parts of europe....

and we always got together everyday during the daytime for beers and ladies on Soi 6 .

One of the guys always had horrible breath and another guy seemed to always

have a lot of b/o...but although we hung out and they were all cool...we didn't

say anything......

 

and no matter what people are willing to say on the board...for people

you've only met or don't know well saying something directly to them like that

is offensive..and I don't believe most people with any sense of tack will go that far

to offend anyone.
