My Thai Girlfriend says having a small Dick shouldn’t be a problem in a relationship I still wish she didn’t have one though!

Last night we tried "Steak & Ale pie" which we are thinking to add to our menu, big chunks of meat in a rich beef & Ale gravy topped with puff pastry ... it was fantastic but far to BIG to eat and be able to walk afterwards! Today we tried a 180g version ... it seemed a much more manageable size..

Steak and Co, was superb, the steaks were cooked to perfection and the sides and sauces were spot on.

Thinking that my Thai wife would order Thai food I opted for a 400g Black Angus Rib Eye, with the idea that she would order Thai food and tax me.

My wife turned around and ordered the Filet Mignon with salad and blue cheese sauce.

I need not have been concerned as my wife finished the lot and I thought that she was going to lick the plate. We decided against red wine, a starter or desert because we had a long night in front of us. You pay for quality and with that in mind the checkbin was very reasonable. No more will I walk Soi Diana for my beef fix.

It was nice to finally meet you Ian and congratulations on your new venture. It was a very pleasant dining experience and your manager and staff were exceptional.

Your wife has excellent taste, you trained her! Didn't hit you too hard in the pocket though!

Yes 10 Months in Australia taught her to enjoy beef on the Barby. Her favourite meat was Kangaroo, but after last night she rates it 50/50. We are both looking forward to our return. Oh to Steak and Co, not Australia. 5555

I've eaten steaks all over Pattaya some good'ish and some awful. I have returned to the good'ish places in part only to get my steak fix.

If it were just for the steak i could easily go without, however the draw for me is what accompanies the steak. I'm not into sauce's and the fancy stick of vegetables ( all fur coat & no knickers )  If the steak can rate a 6/10 max then i make the consession with mushrooms, garden peas, fresh tomato, fried egg, and homemade chips.

So unless this were an option for me then it would not get me through the door even if your steaks scored a 10  +.

Which of course is a great piss off for me as you seem to be perfecting my ideal steak.

. The Rib Eye looks good going to try it Monday with 3 mates, but I have to agree with Sonny above, for me mushrooms peas chips and maybe some fried onions is what I like to see with a good steak...

We do have potato wedges (chips with their jacket still on), French fries, sautéed mushrooms all on the menu as a choice for the free side dish, the plate is also served with a oven roasted tomato...Garden peas & onion rings are available upon request but we might be changing creamed spinach in favour of French style garden peas shortly (bit of onion & bacon with the peas).

400g Ribeye Looks mouth watering :-p      And the whole bill only came to 1500 Baht!! Outstanding  :Think1:

I do love a good steak and whenever we are in Bangkok i try to head to El Gaucho on Soi 19 next to Terminal 21 (Argentinian Steakhouse) But the same meal in there would cost you 4500 Baht with Service and Tax charges added on.....Now i can get my fix here :GoldenSmile1:

NO MORE... EL Gaucho    :Finger5:

Just ate there. Ate a 250g rib-eye, medium-rare, mushroom sauce (served on the side) and creamed spinach (also served on the side). Drank water. Total cost: 625 baht.

Verdict:

The good:

Best steak I've had in Thailand. As good as a good steak back home.

Service attentive but not cloying.

The not-so-good:

The rest of the food was forgettable. Meh is the best way to describe it.

The bad:

Nothing.

Final thoughts: The steak was much better than the rib-eyes I've had at Beefeaters. The sides and sauce were from a different league, a minor league at that. I liked the couscous rice at first, but after a few bites it just seemed not to fit with the rest of the meal. The mushroom sauce was ok, but I've been wow'ed by sauces before and certainly wasn't wow'ed here.

It's like there's the steak, which is great, and then there's everything else, which is meh.

Next time I want a steak, I will go to Steak and Co. They have gotten the most important part of the meal spot on and it is *the* place to go for a steak, as far as I am concerned, in Pattaya.

Just back from a meal there myself. I had the mushroom starter, TBone with baked potato, Tiramisu dessert, red wine and couple of coffees. I enjoyed all of it. The waitress was very friendly and I enjoyed a good conversation with Chef Gerry. Shame I didn't have my camera with me. I will bring it next time...

I went back for the big one! 600G of pure tastebud pleasure, top job Gerry, Ian and team, could not fault it! If I was not in a restaurant I would have chewed the bone!

agurajav.jpg

Once again cooked how I ordered, the meat fell away. I ordered the pepper sauce again still IMHO nothing flash, but all I like on my steak is cracked pepper and Worcestershire sauce on the plate to rub the steak into. I would call that steak a T-Bone not a porterhouse, to me a porterhouse is cut from the T-Bone .

avaja7eb.jpg

The potato gratin was very good and on par for how I make it at home and was better than Beefeaters. I enjoyed all the vegetables served in my plate and thought that the tomato stuffed with couscous stood out, then again I enjoyed the original stuffed tomato you served.

e4ebupeq.jpg

I think the sides are very well priced and the whole menu gives the customer options on how to fill our tummies!

erevebe8.jpg

I have no problems at all paying that price and is on par to what I would spend on pub grub at home. So thanks again!

PS; Bread and butter big improvement and where given an extra serve at no charge.

I'm in Pattaya Sunday & going to stay the rest of the week until my flight back to the UK the following Sunday. Yuri the manager changed the butter today to salted rather then unsalted, I have told them to stop the "paprika butter" and I will find something with Chef on Sunday to replace it....

I admit we probably did cut a cost on the bread, sorry... We bought the French sticks from Makro because they were the cheapest, an error on my part and we will find a local better supplier (Loaf or Continental)

The roasted vegetables on the plate shouldn't actually even include diced potatoes, it's meant to be turnip, carrot & Asparagus which might be why it was a little firmer then expected, I'm glad you liked the tomato stuffed with creamed spinach, these are all little touches on the place in addition to the Free side order / Free sauce.

Decent restaurants bake their own bread.

It keeps the kitchen staff busy.

Nothing is worse than lazy, bored staff.

Buying bread at Makro is for bunglers.
