Hilton Hotel

Just in case anyone out there was thinking of booking some days at the Hilton; i spent 3 nights there this week. They charge a 1000 baht joiner fee.

Its a lovely hotel , expensive by pattaya standards but you can get deals which i did, however, the 1000 baht was not something i was aware of when booking because if i had been i would not have booked and would have gone to the holiday inn as i usually do

What happens is after 11pm when the central festival shopping mall beneath the Hilton Closes you do not have the option of getting into the hotel and bypassing the reception on the 16th floor as you can through the shopping centre. After 11 pm you have to go past the ground floor security guys. They always ask what room number you are and then , i presume, must phone reception.

On the first night as soon as i got out of the lift one of the ladies at reception came running across the floor to inform me i needed to pay 1000 baht. i didn't want to embarass the lady i was with at the time so i just said ok , i'll pay when i check out

The followiing day i challenged the reception guy and told him i paid for one room but two guests. He said but you did not check in with two guests. The exchange was starting to get a little heated . Eventually he withdrew the charge but told me in future i would have to pay.

On the third night i barfined from What's Up. ON checking out the 1000 was added to my bill. I just payed the bill and went on my way but i think its only fair that you know this is the case with the Hilton - At present at least.

I will write a report on trip advisor to inform the hotel booking population that the Hilton is a family hotel and make solo male visitors aware that this is the case

If you would have done a search on here for Hilton you would see a few other posts stating this but thanks for the reminder. Plenty of other nice hotels without this policy.

Yup, Hilton is bad from what I have read. IMO Holiday Inn is way better. The rooms are nicer, the ambience is better, and no joiner fee. The Marriot is also a great place to stay, pool is awesome. Staying at Holiday Inn again on my second trip in April. Out of the 3 I'd have to say Holiday Inn had the nicest rooms, followed by Hilton and Marriot.

Hopefully Hilton gets the point soon when people stop booking there because of the ridiculous joiner fee.

Cheers

Lloyd

If you can afford 6k a night for the room, what's another 1000? ok for the wealthy farangs, haha

Never stay again, dressing gowns way too fluffy. Could only fit 12 in my suitcase ffs.

My Pattaya budget is perfectly adequate as long as I don't spend any of it
