Chiang Mai Hotels close to bars

Recommended Posts

I am having a trip to Pattaya later this month and am considering a side trip to Chiang Mai for a few days. This will be my first trip there.

Could anyone please suggest some hotelsthat are guest friendly and close to bars. I have tried to find some on the net but have not been successful.

Thanks in advance

Dave

I stayed at the Raming Lodge hotel in Loi Kroh road in June and it is an excellent girl friendly hotel and in an ideal location for the beer bars and the three agogos in Chaing mai.

You can log out anytime you like but you can never leave.

Raming Lodge hotel in Loi Kroh road gets good reviews often, and can book via Thai hotel Discounts/Agoda.

Have stayed at the Centara Duang Tawan myself in Chiang Mai. hotel is a bit old, but the Rooms are a decent size. Also on Loi Kroh. I would recommend Centara Duang Tawan as a second choice to Raming Lodge.

Agree, Centara Duangtawan is good. Stayed there a few months ago and liked it.

Centara never charged me a joiner fee plus the entry and lifts are on the ground floor but reception is on the first floor, so you don't have to go through teception. Wifi is expensive there but overall I liked it and got a better deal through Agoda than I could by visiting in person.

Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well-preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways - Chardonnay in one hand - chocolate in the other - body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming "WOO-HOO, what a ride!!"

Any news about centara duangtawan and raming lodge? Which is best GF? Best pool?

Taxis from chaing mai airport to anywhere 'down town' are pretty cheap, around 150-200b. Will take about 15-20 minutes depending on time of day / traffic

Plenty outside the airport. This isn't Phuket where they try to rip you off straight away. Just write down / tell the driver where you wanna go and ask the price up front

Stayed at Raming Lodge hotel this year, pool is over a small soi across from the hotel but is nice and quiet with a small bar and they will do food from the hotel. Rooms are basic and a little dated especially the bathrooms although clean and tidy.

Taxi was 200 baht from the airport and about 15 mins max, as soon as you get taxi get card off driver as they will do day trips for a fixed sum, i think mine was four people all day for 1700 baht and saw most of the sights in a day.

Breakfast is Ok and the only downfall was if you booked a taxi or anything through the front desk they steered you to their small tourist desk which put at least 25% on everything hence get a card off your first taxi.

Plenty of restaurants and worth going to a few by the river, short tuk tuk ride and really worth it as the best food is there.

Oh girl bars, you are right in prime position, turn right or left really, preferred right myself.

Happy days Big C

One place to absolutly avoid is the Pornping tower.  While the location is decent it was by far the filthiest room I have had in years.  This could be a 4-5 star property with a total renovation, but as it is I would not give it one star.
