FYI, Hilton now enforcing joiner policy

I know most guys here don't want to stay at the Hilton anyway, but just in case I thought I would update. I'm currently in my third trip to Pattaya and my second stay at the Hilton. I stayed there last December just a few days after it first opened and I filed a TR about it in the hotels forum. At the time they had a joiner policy that was easily evaded. But last night, I brought two girls over from Fahrenheit on Walking Street. I tried my usual entering at the bell desk and taking the elevator to the 15th floor, thereby avoiding the 16th floor lobby. But this time, the bellman escorted me up and at anyrate, the elevator button for 15 was locked, so no choice but to go to lobby. The girls turned in their IDs and 2000 baht were charged to my room. As a result, I'm checking out tomorrow instead of the 13th as planed. I'm actually cutting my Pattaya trip short and heading off to AC tomorrow. As of now, you can still bring in girls incognito before 11:00 pm if you go through central festival shopping center. I did that earlier that day with another girl from Genesis 2, an open air beer garden-like place on WS.

Pitty about the Hilton. I justified the extravagant price because I typically only stay four or five days, never 2-4 weeks, and the place is beautiful with great location, a fantastic view, a huge balcony in the better rooms with a bathtub (not Jacuzzi, unfortunately) and banging chicks in the balcony was sweet. But this is the last straw.

Upon us all, just a little rain must fall

It's a little strange in a town like Pattaya but on the other hand i can understand their policy .

The Hilton is up to a certain standard and a lot of the people who stay there are not here for

the cheap sex .

So i guess they don't want hookers running in and out of the hotel all night .

On the other hand I have been sat down at a bar in the Hilton in London with high class hookers next to me. When they ask if they can pinch your nuts and then wink giving you a business card it's a little obvious.

The Hilton Patts is quite happy though for you take to a girl there for the buffet food so it seems a bit double standard to me.

Most of the guests are indeed tourists with families, so yes, I can understand. But I did see some western men with young, scantily clothed Asian girls at the dinner buffet. I was always quite discreet. Never took a girl to breakfast there or to the pool. That is the down side of the hotel. So many lovely facilities that you can't enjoy.

Also, I stayed at the Marriott in 2008. They took the girl's ID but never charged a fee for the first girl in a double room. That was also a family place. Same I think with the Sheraton in Jomtien. In BKK, I have never heard of a hotel making a fuss about overnight guests.

Whatever. Can anyone suggest the nicest girl friendly hotel in town?

Bad news . . looks like i will be bringing girls in before 11 . . although only single there 2 nights before my gf coming in from KK for three days . . I need to be cautious anyway . . . she is not p4p, met her here in Chicago and I don't want anyone telling her anything . . . I am staying the entire time on points . . . so at least it is "free" . . . if i end up paying 1000 a couple of nights . . guess it will work . . . sucks that they have locked 15 . . I used that a couple of times in June . .

Good advice to fellow Hilton Honors members. Thought about staying on points as well, but guess will just leave staying at Hilton for business trips. Would have liked to shag on the balcony as well watching the sunset on the Bay!

If you're staying on points then the 1000B joiner fee might be a bit more bearable. But then Pattaya doesn't lack for good choices in hotels, plenty of great places to stay.

I also stayed there before and it was perfect the 1st 2 times but was back a few weeks ago and will never stay there again unless checking in with a gf. I'll be back in the Marriott or D2 if I want to splash next time.

It's actually very uncomfortable how they enforce the joiner fee, you get asked for your room number as you walk past the ground flor concierge and they check if you have checked in with a lady while you're in the lift. You can't choose any floor except the lobby in the 1st lift and when you get to the lobby floor you are swooped upon, marched to the front desk and have to agree to pay and sign for it. It shows clearly on your hotel bill so it's not good when checking out if you're easily embarrassed. The girl hands her id in at reception but in the morning they hold it at the beach road entrance so she gets embarrassed having to ask for it at reception, getting rudely dimissed and having to grovel again downstairs. I ended up doing STs at ST hotels instead of my normal approach of mostly LT, better value and I'm too easily embarrassed. I'd pre-paid so had to lump it.

When I was there it seemed to be about 50-50 families v single tourists using Pattaya's facilities. The place is booked out most weekends but dead during the week, I can't see their strategy working. The views and rooms are good but the pool set up is actually pretty crap, hardly any beds and those that are there are either uncomfortable or fully in or out the sun with no in between. There's also a lot of noise from outside until 3am that wasn't so bad before when they were enforcing earlier closing times but now there are 3 bars in the area with bands competing, so if you're wanting to get a good nights sleep and be a 'normal' tourist you can't.

The joiner fee of 1,000 baht is now the official policy of the Hilton!!!!!

Unfortunately a friend booked us both into the \Hilton in December, before I read this thread.

I sent an email to them and they confirmed today that unless my guest registers with me when I arrive and is the only guest during my stay..

they will charge a fee of 1,000 baht per guest!

I am staying for 8 nights so this will cost around 8,000 baht extra ...not the end of the world ..but this will be my first and last stay at the Hilton.

How the f1?k can a hotel charge a joiner fee in a place like Pattaya.

If i can avoid the joiner fee when I am there I will update the thread.

Have you paid for all 8 nights or just paid deposit? Either way I'd let them know that I was finding alternative accommodation and stay somewhere else. Might have to pay some sort of cancelation payment but doubt it'd be as high as 8000 plus you'd prob make a savings on the room as I'm sure the Hilton is pretty expensive to stay in.

Cancel the room and get your credit card company / bank to deal with them on your refund if you have prepaid or given them a deposit.

I booked with Expedia..got a good deal price wise...but had to prepay and cannot cancel.Expedia say the Hilton will not give a refund

Sent an email to the Hilton asking them to help with the cancelation in view of their joiner policy...but they replied I have to talk to Expedia.

Lesson 1....... read PA before you book a new hotel!!

I stayed there last month, still have to upload some pics. Awesome rooms and location in Central Festival was cool, but everything is pricey. Charged for internet in room, deposit was 6000B for 3 days, and its really catered toward business people and families. I checked in with a TGF so there were no joiner fees, but you could tell they were really aggressive on looking out for guests joining later.

well this will not be my problem as I can not afford the 5000/8000 + baht per room per night to stay there.

Guys who can afford this hotel should ask the hotel when booking are they booking a double room for 2 persons right.

I do agree if you have this big money then a 1000 baht to get your lady of the night in to your room is just a sheet of the money clip or out of the wallet.

I would love to have a few nights there but my room budget is 1500/2000 baht max.

Drop the bellhop 200 baht and have him bypass the front desk...

That's what I was thinking....200 baht is a lot of money for a bellhop.
