Don Muang hotels

Can anyone recommend a clean hotel in Don Muang to stop at for one night on my way through to Phuket? Also are there any good bars in the area to play at?

Amari Airport hotel is joined to DM by a walkway; stayed there once - it's OK.

 

But ... there are no falang-type bars in the area. Think instead about staying in downtown BKK (likely to be cheaper than the Amari) and take a taxi along the tollway to DM for any early morning flight to Phuket.

Thanks for the tips. How long is the trip from BKK to Don Muang airport? Have only ever come from Suvarnabhumi and am guessing by looking at google earth it would take about the same time to get to Don Muang depending on traffic of course about 45mins.

Plan for 45, but it'll take less. Traffic should be going the other way. 20 mins possible. Yeah, don't stay out there. Party in BKK. What do you need to do in Phuket but crash on the beach ? wj
