Bag snatcher foiled by Aussie tourists

On May 28 Pattaya once more gained some negative publicity as another bag snatching incident took place – however this time the hunter became the hunted

An Australian tourist Jessica McLennan was riding on the back of a motorbike with her boyfriend near the All Seasons hotel in central Pattaya, when a Thai man came along side them on a motorbike and made a grab for her handbag.

However the plucky Aussie wasn’t going to give in so easily and kept a tight grip on her bag, the Thai thief simply wasn’t strong enough and ended up crashing his motorbike and tried to make a run for it, but Jessica’s boyfriend managed to detain him until the police arrived.

The thief was identified as 28 year old Sakol Jantaporn who stated that he had recently been released from prison and that he needed some fast cash so he tried to steal the woman’s handbag – a crime that he said he had done many times before.

Hopefully when he is charged he will receive a longer custodial sentence to keep scum like this off the streets of Pattaya, and ladies remember to be careful when carrying your handbag whether you are walking or on a motorbike as these crimes can happen at anytime in Pattaya – day or night.

Well done to the Aussies :GoldenSmile1:

Just a word of warning though, bag snatching's on the increase, try putting bags etc under the seat or in between your legs.Don't give the wankers anything to aim at.

The best advice here is to always keep a hand grenade in your handbag. Attach one end of a piece of string to yourself and the other end to the safety pin. If more people did this there would be far fewer bag snatchers around Pattaya.

Good stuff he is lucky he didnt get summary justice from the locals. I once saw a very similar incident near the top of Pattaya Tai and he got a damned good kicking from locals who appeared from nowhere before the BiB arrived,

Contrary to a lot of opinion, the locals dont like these people any more than we do.

Thats Aussie's 2, snatcher zero :D as friends of mine were in the same position this past week. Bike snatcher came in and bumped their bike grabbing at the strap of her handbag, was not happening as she clamped down on it with both hands and held on. To strong for him  he had to let go and make a dash for it, fortunately he kept his bike upright and was quicker than their bike with two up.

Good girl :9of10Score: 10 if she had beaten the little shite :Dance1:

Are the women placing their bags between themselves and the drivers? This would make it harder to snatch.

Many do this but still leave the straps over their shoulders. This can cause a lot of danger as one sharp tug usually brings the bike down. Sometimes both bikes but usually just the one the girl is riding as a few members can confirm.

Either firmly between the passenger and driver or under the seat. A strap over the shoulder is always going to be both an enticement and a danger.

All the local girls I hang with insist on putting their bag under the seat, I can even recall an occasion when one of the girls refused to get on the bike until her bag was under the seat.
