Just noticed that my trip to Thailand this year is during the weekend that the F1 circus comes to Singapore.

Does anybody know if a Thai can travel to Singapore just with a passport or would a visa need to be applied for?

Any help/advice would be appreciated as I will only have a couple of days to sort things out once I land at BKK.

I beleive that they do not need a visa.

yup that is correct, Thai's are not required a Visa to visit Singapore. Took the TGF there last summer, granted she only got a 15 day entry, but we only stayed for 5 five.
