If I want to say "i know some words"

Is it

Pom ruujak sap song saam kam

Or is it "kam song saam sap" ?

In your example "sap" is the noun and "kam" is the classifier, so it should be "sap song saam kam"

Since Thais always leave everything out, a more natural way to say it would be:

-Pom roo song saam kam

-Pom roo baang kam

-or the ubiquituus "Pom roo ngoo ngoo bplaa bplaa"

:)

i would translate "i know some words" as "pom roo kamsap baang kam".

but not sure if thais would say it like this, but they will understand it.

But kam = words. And sap = the classifier.

I though the classifier comes AFTER the noun, or not?

It is "pom ruu pooying song saam kon" , so this should be "pom ruu kam song saam sap" ?

The noun "word" is usually translated as kam. I guess you could also use sap or even kamsap, but no matter which one you use, they all have the same classifier: kam.

So what you say about the cl. coming after the noun is correct:

Technically it should be "pom roo kam song saam kam", but because in this case the noun and the cl. are the same, Thai usually leaves out the noun, which makes it "pom roo song saam kam"

Same as "I know some people" = "pom roo song saam kon" where the noun "kon" is left out and the word "kon" at the end is the classifier.
