30 Day Visa Exemption

Hi,

 

I'm currently in Vietnam after spending a few weeks in Thailand during march, and plan to return to Thailand on Sunday. A person I met travelling claimed that on April 1st, they now charge money for the 30day Visa Expemtion, and I read a topic a few topics down claiming that it is now 1000baht, however the information looks a bit murky with various embassy websites not being updated etc.

 

So my question is to anyone who has entered Thailand on a 30day exemption, is there now a fee?

My thoughts too...just seems like a bizarre thing to make an April Fools joke about! Although more power to them if it was a joke for fooling me!
