Pattaya to Koh Phi Phi

On my trip in May Im going from Pattaya to Koh Phi Phi Don and I am trying to avoid having to stay overnight somewhere along the way. I assume the only way to get there would be to head back to Bangkok and fly into Phuket or Krabi and ferry over. Main problem with that is the flight and ferry schedules it looks like it might be a pretty tight schedule or impossible. Any one done this before? or know any better airports / routes I should be taking? -thanks!

 

Also are there other cheap airlines like AirAsia I should be checking out for domestic flights?

You can fly from U-Tapao airport to Phuket it's a little bit closer to Pattaya than Bkk
