Weird emails from the past!

Maybe you guys can help me with a strange situation:

 

A few weeks ago a friend of mine started receiving emails on her Yahoo account. So far 3 have been received, the last one was one I sent to her on 16 November 2001 while I was in Thailand!

 

It probably doesn't mean anything, but each mail was 'key', the person sending it was at a key stage in their life - actually it can't mean anything unless you want to get all spiritual on my ass! But she is getting more and more freaked out by it, and I have to say I was a bit open-mouthed when I saw the last one.

 

One mail came from an account that was closed many years ago, an old work one. The company and the server don't physically exist any more.

 

The original mails are not on her Yahoo account at all.

 

Those are all the salient points I can think of - any ideas how this can happen?
