when i was in Pattaya, i noticed quite a few tattoo parlors dotted around the area.

how many guys on this forum had their tattoos done in Pattaya/Thailand or elsewhere in Asia??

how was the prices compared to their native homeland?

were the tattoo artists top notch?

my friend is contemplating on getting one for posterity.

please share your experiences...

There are so many tattoo artists in Patts and the rest of LOS as there are so many farangs wanting tattoos when they go there. Its best to have a look round and check out the work before you commit but i would say the vast majority of tattooists in LOS are pretty good. I have had a few tattoos in LOS and i would say they are about 40% cheaper to what i would have paid in the UK. I can see this thread getting moved to a different section pretty soon!

Soon there will be coming to market a new tatoo type ink that is easier to get rid of if later you don't want to keep the tattoo. The ink is in tiny bubles that are easily popped by a laser and of a solution that the body will remove on it's own. Maybe your friend will want to check out this new type of tatoo ink before getting his/her tattoo.

I'm reasonably sure that there is an artist in Pattaya that is trying to get the rights to this new method for all of Thailand. He advertises on another Thailand board that I'm not sure I can mention here, if you stick with a good search engine you would probably find the well known website.

I got Hep C from a tattoo in Hong Kong about 15 years ago. They might show you brand new needles out of an unopened packet, but make sure the ink is not left over from a previous tattoo
