You might have a tough time getting a script for opiates in Thailand. You might want to head over the border to Cambo, stock up, and get your PP stamped. Prescription or not - UP2U.

What's your problem?

Tramadol as mentioned is a very good pain killer, a synthetic opioid.

Do not underestimate the effectiveness of paracetamol, 1g 4x per day (ie 8 tablets), parracetamol is used as an adjunct to other pain killers and it is impossible to gain tolerance.

Anti-inflamatories, of which thee are many, are useful for certain conditions. A doctor would be a useful first call, but don't always think stronger is best.

Tramadol in conjunction with paracetamol is what im prescribed by my doc in Sweden for a Whiplash and a slipped disc.

2x50mg 3 times a day together with 2x500mg Paracetamol 3 times a day (is my prescription)

A word of caution though! Tramadol is highly addictive as most strong painkillers so take it with caution. Going cold turkey of these will give you severe withdrawl symptoms (talking from past experience)

Any other type of pain medication such as codine you will need to visit a hospital. They will prescribe it to you but only in a limited amount. 20-30 tablets at the most (what i got after a motorbike accident). Anything stronger id say is very difficult to get from a doctor. After all, its Thailand.

You must be extremely opioid sensitive or have a fucked liver. As far as I know they only come in 50mg or the 100mg slow release so I am quite surprised one tablet would do this to you, but if it did it did, interesting.

Maybe 3 tattoo sessions in 3 days made me a bit over-sensitive too.

Tramadol has stronger anaelgesic effects than pan forte and in any case with up to a third of the population unable to metabolise codeine, it pisses all over it.

Trust me, unless you are an anaesthetist, I know more about pain control than you ever will, and so often tramadol hits the spot that morphine or fentanyl haven't.

We were talking about drugs you can buy otc, and which you don't need a prescription for, and I don't think we have heard from the op yet, as per my question, what the pain is. There are many other pain medications that don't even go down the opioid or synthetic opioid routes, so there's no point getting into a pissing competition about strong or weak.

If it is for example neuropathic pain, all the morphine in the world won't control it.

However, it seems like the op won't reveal his problem, so fuck him.

i must say it has the exact opposite effect on me.. hard as a rock and extremely horny. I once knew a girl in BKK who carried some with her, she offered me some and I asked her why she even carried it, she said that for some it acts exactly as viagra. Of course she's not a pharmacist nor a doctor, but based on my experiences with it she was right

I am waiting for an op on my knee Meniscus problen

used 50s tramadol 3x1 day with with 3x2 a day paracetamol

upped it to 100s tramadol and I just felt like shit so

stopped them and have just started 20mg morphine 2x a day.

will see how that works not optimistic though.

My doc did say that he would not give me any more tramadol anyway.

long -medium term they suck.

Yes, tramadol is wank for joint pain. I am currently suffering from an inflamed toe joint, either from gout or from twatting it while pissed, either way it hurts like fuck. I've been popping tramadol and as suspected they have no effect, so I tried an NSAID, in this case indomethacin and it is working so well. In all honesty I reckon morphine will do very little for your knee pain, you need an anti inflammatory (NSAID) like indomethacin, but what works very well, and I know from my back problem, is Ibuprofen with codeine or aspirin with codeine. The only problem is that codeine based stuff, for some unknown reason, is impossible to get in LOS without a prescription.

In any case I would recommend an NSAID. People mistakingly think morphine and the like, being strong analgesics, will fix all pain, well, it doesn't and the problem of course is long term=tolerance, and of course when you come to get your surgery, when you are in recovery (where I work), they will be pulling their hair out trying to give you enough morphine to kill the pain because you are tolerant.

Suggest to your Dr an NSAID, celebrex is a great one as well and it is a cox 2 inhibitor only, which basically means it doesn't fuck with your stomach. Beware though, if you are on an ACE inhibitor and a diuretic for blood pressure, do not use any NSAID long term or you will blow your kidneys up.

Paracetamol=always.

Hope this helps.

dont understand how could you possibly know more about what controls my pain when 'I' get tattooed.... anaesthetist or not...no matter how much study you have done it couldnt possibly have covered 6 billion individuals. like i said for tattoos tram is as good as talking panadiene forte or other (what i believe to be weak) painrelief for intensive pain from tattooing. like i said unless its heroin no real pain relef will help. your better with muscle relaxants and grinding it out.

I don't believe I ever claimed the following:

I am an anaesthetist

Tramadol is no good at controlling your 'tattoo pain'

Please show me where I have made either of those statements..

Tramadol has a stronger anaelgesic effect than pan forte and like I said 1/3 of the population cannot metabolise codeine so pan forte for 1/3 of the population is the same as paracetamol.

I think you are firing back answwers to questions that were never put in the first place.

I said Tramadol is wank for joint pain, I don't believe I ever addressed your, or the OP's 'tattoo pain' only to say that one tramadol shouldn't zonk someone unless you were extremely opioid sensitive.

At the end of the day, certain anaelgesics work better for somethings than for others.

Oh and by the way, I have had tattoos, and I would hardly call the pain intense, more like annoying.

That's actually a difficult one because of the nature of the pain. The only way you are really going to stop that pain is using local anaesthetic. You could try lignocaine gel or some freeze spray, along with paracetamol and ibuprofen. In actual fact, alcohol is probably one of the best things as it really slows things down and causes a whole body desensitization.

Or you could just take a spoonful of cement and harden the fuck up!

A bottle of Stroh Rum 80% has always worked for me.

Sometimes it makes you do weird things, but it kills any mental and physical pain almost instantly.
