I thought it never got off the ground but good to see it has.

Drive to Hua Hin is around 5 hours so from a time perspective it makes good sense.

Yeh, boat does look a bit small, could be a rough passage as they say.

Have you tried the mini-bus. Is it a good journey, comfortable, toilets etc??

I did this trip in november and it was a little bit windy that day, but boat was steady as a rock, and the captain from australia was a nice fellow...

Hua Hin was not my thing really but still nice to get away for a few days...

Does anyone else remember the ferry service between Pattaya and Bangkok ?

I don't think it lasted very long to be honest. In January '95 a mate and I

plus my squeeze of the time were the only passengers on the 3 1/2 hr journey.

The 180 baht VIP tickets that we had got us seats at the front, with tickets

at the back being 120 baht.It was a single deck, aside from the wheel house

and was I believe previously used as a riverbus somewhere in Europe.

There wasn't much to see along the way until we approached the port area in

Bangkok,as we made our way past the navy and commercial ships but is was dark by then !

Getting a taxi in Klong Toey wasn't that easy and in the days before meters I seem to

recall it costing a good part of a ferry ticket. It left from the pier before walking street

and the office was right by the Baywatch restaurant.

So,all in all, more expensive and slower than the bus,but glad we did it...if only once.

Anyone been by train ?!

the train from Pattaya takes about 3 hours as it stops everywhere---very cheap though about 38bt
