Cheap and mid range accom, close together

Hi, I will be travelling to Pattaya mid July in a group of about 10. Just to play golf you understand !!

The problem is we have different budgets for accom.

We are trying to find a hotel in the 500 - 800 range for some and up to abut 1500 for a few others (I'm one)

The hotels must be very close together, no bart bus rides.

I normally stay at the Sabai, on soi 2, so I thought the cheap charlies could stay across the road at the Welcom Inn (AKA the Belgian embassy)

I have been hearing that the Sabai is not quite what it used to be but am sure that the sabai wing will still be ok.

My question is can any of the members offer any other suggestions.

Would want something in the Soi's between, or on, beach and second road.
