Have you Changed?

LISBON

Recommended Posts

I was sat in the Irish Bar in Bloomsbury (London)last night having a drink with an old military friend whom I haven't seen for 10 years. Of course, the conservation eventually got around to Patts, well, it just has to doesn't it?

Anyhow my mate Craig asked me a couple of questions which I didn't answer immediately, I had to think them through. He said " Has Pattaya changed the way you are and have your experiences there changed your perception on culture and life in general."

I eventually told him that I have changed dramatically, the intensity and physical dimensions of my first visit were awesome, immeasurable highs and substantial lows (back in the England) The way I see life in England and how I see people has changed quite significantly. But I also told him that each subsequent visit has also influenced or inspired me, the consequence of some event or more probably some stunning girl that I tried not to fall in love with.. It's been a meaningful and absolutely compelling part of my life so far, which, with hope and good fortune will continue.

So Question is to other BM's:

How would your response be to this question? How have you changed?

WOW.....What a hell of a HARD question. I think it would be easier for me to answer how Afghaninstan has change me over the last 2 1/2 years. Pattaya, for one thing, has let me realize thatthere IS a place for my "wild" spirit. But, like you said, there are inmeasurable HIGHS and unbelievable lows. However, I think, for me, it hasgot me back in touch with my heart. Both the HARD and the SOFT side of it. I've been and am with one particular chick really infactuated. However, I've been feelin' sooooooo good with a chick and havin' a GREAT TIME and then she "brings you in" close and starts tellin' me her life problems. Well, many have been there I'm sure. One minute your on top of the world and the next you wanna just friggin' strangle somebody, alot of the time, her. I mean, I KNOW most of the woman in Patts have problems of one type or another and thier main goal is to take care of themselves and FAMILY and or child but DAMN.........Shit, I'm gettin' drunk in the airport right now and don't fee like gettin' all phylishophical and shit so I'll cose with.........

PRAISE THE 3 DAY RULE !!!

has changed me for the better

i was hypnoticed by the english way of life

grow up and be part of the system

a little cog in the gearbox

now seing how thais live,no national health or giros

young girls pushing prams

i was schocked by it

but the thais stick together, respect older ones

monks learn about life, how it works

got lot respect for them now

they work hard ,not greedy, take care of each other

i travel from chang mai to phucket

seen thais from all over

and now find thais all over england too

they say how england is not what they thought it was

and why falangs love to go to thailand

buddas middle path is very usefull, and makes sense

he must been a clever chap, see through the illuision of life

as i study thai and its history

i can see a pattern ,a way of life ,be good to others

stick together

makes for a stronger nation

i often compare the love of there king to our Queen of england

she seems to not be doing as much for her peoples ,

or does stuff in the back ground, help the nation

my thai holidays have waking me up

i look at every think now

nice to talk to the thai monks,in the wats

they explain whats going on in the world

the how and the why,of life, rebirth

i look back now,and feel i was asleep ,back then

but different culture ,shock me into waking up,whys it so diff here

very hot and very long work hours, some thais have one day of a month

that freak me out

i do shift work,4 on/4 off

thought that was long and hard

well i am glad i went ,

wonder what hong kong and japan would do for me

be a experiance

been to usa, seen great wonders there

india would prob shock me ,how spirital and poor there way of life is

up to our western ways

mad how some countries treat women second class

and can marry more than one lady

thais and the french seem simaler, mia nois, second wifes/mistriss

and back doors to brothels, work that one out by my self,in bangkok

yes, thailand has made my life better

learnt important stuff there

very interesting question indeed

Good thread mate,

Did'nt have to think about that one for too long. Yes there is one amazing life-changing event that happened to me on my very first night of my first trip to Patts and without the need of plastic surgery the miraculous transformation of me into a very sexy handsome fanny magnet LOL! :P

I've been mongering in Thailand now for half of my life and the vast majority of my adult life so the question seems a bit hypothetical to me....it's hard to remember how I was before. I think that I'm a lot more chilled these days than back then, some of the Thai sanuk attitude to life has rubbed off on me. I was a pretty business orientated guy before I started visiting LOS and I'm pretty sure that I would have been more succesful in monetary terms if I had never gone there. More to life than money though and I'm glad that I found the place.

I find something hypnotic about South East Asia in general, so it has definitely changed me, and actually the mongering (while I do enjoy it) has little to do with it. I have spent the better part of the last 10 years working and living in SEA, Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia and PI in particular with lots of holidays to LOS, Cambodia and Vietnam, and while I am there I miss home (my kids) but the second I get home I am counting the days till I am back to SEA. For me it is many things, the culture, the food, the weather and especially the way of life. Even though the cultures in SEA are very different, the one common thread is the underlying spirituality of Budism and Hinduism (even in the islamic countries), the live and let live attitude, the accept people for who they are not what they are, looking at life as being half full not half empty.... you get the drift.

So it has changed me for the better, I don't let the little things in life bother me, I don't obsess over what I don't have, I don't let work rule my life and most importantly I focus on making those important to me happier which in turn brings happiness to me.

I am a very very hansum man, just ask any of the BG's I have BFed!!!

I am not talking about the women either, its a way of life, how you wish to live your life. In England its pretty crap, work hard, get treated like shit by the government and make the rich richer and the poor poorer. In Thailand as long as you are respectful and are happy then I have found only good things happen to you. I met lots of people out there from lots of countries ( i will speak to anyone) and the only regret I have is not learning enough Thai to hold a basic conversation (something I am now working on).

Will I go back --- yes, I am fortunate enough to own my own business and I will be damned if I am going to be paying the new tax hikes coming out in the UK over the next few months, would prefer instead to live 6 months+ in Thailand / SEA and pop back occasionally. I will NOT bail out this country or partake in bailing it out as its done fuckall for me apart from try to grind me down with paperwork and making lawyers very rich. Thats the problem with this country (UK) we have that many laws now the only ones benefiting from them are the Lawyers! Makes me sick

I have been there only once, which was April 2010, and I didn't realize how much I was getting jipped by American girls until a 2 days into my trip. I know there's the saying no money, no honey in Pattaya, but I'm sure the same goes anywhere else in the world.

By the way, I don't hate my country (USA), I just hate the feminist movement that fucked up lots of things for us.

I first came to Thailand 10 years ago. First time was with my Danish girlfriend. When we broke up in 2005 I went to Thailand. Now I kind of see it as my 'second country'. I think that all those encounters with girls can be really intensive and you learn something about yourself. Besides as a great French writer wrote: there is always new experiences to be made in the vagina.

Its difficult to say exactly what I have learned but I do know a lot more about women in general now.

I have family living in Thailand as well so I do know that life with a thai women can be difficult, just like in the west.

Pattaya makes you realise you live your life for your self after the kids and its your turn to enjoy your later years.

There is no better place to enjoy those years, earlier we were out having a drink and was sitting near a bunch of guys about 6 of them and most were 65+ and some 70+ and they were chatting about different girls and what they did and how they did them, where else can guys this age have so much fun.

Appears that most people have gained positive attitude on life, post Pattaya. A better understanding of their emotions and the journey ahead 'pro re nata'

I also cocur with the comments about the UK. The country has just become too soft and genuine hard working guys are been taken for a ride. We end up paying for all the lazy sponging bastards and the politicians fill their bank accounts and drink fine champagne from our money!!

Where else can a white male from a Western Socialist Fundamentalist Feminist country live like nature intended?

Why stay in a Western shithole country where your only value to the government and society is how much tax you can pay to support the freeloading Parasites that vote these Socialist Commie trashbags into power.

Any self respecting male would move himself and all his wealth out of the grasp of these filthy blood sucking mongrels.

I'd rather be a second class citizen in Thailand than a third class citizen in a pathetic Western Femocracy!

Hello everybody, I would have to agree with Jump Master. It is a lot easier to say how Afghanistan changes a person, I have now been here for a year and a half... Thialand is a great place, I went this past November, then went again in May. I have my next two trips planned for September and December. With another 3 trips next year!!! :GoldenSmile1: I have a lady in the states also, but I love going to Thailand. Don't get me wrong, I love my girl back home and will be going home to her no matter what. But in Thailand, the women treat you so much different than the western women. But I also understand that most of these women are just acting. Though I have been lucky enough to meet a couple that has taken really good care of me when I am there, and I have meet some that I wouldn't have any part of if I saw them again. I don't like users, liars, beggers, and bull shitters. I rather you be truthful... What I am saying is, it has changed me because it has taught me a few things. How to be patient with women, because they are all crazy in their own way. How to have fun,and to make light of life and enjoy it. I am in a very fortunate situation to work where I do, and make good money while doing it... These girls have to lay on their backs and go with some of us ugly Farangs for 30 or 50 dollars!!! I would have to say we got it pretty good... So after seeing some of the situations and problems these girls have, it really teaches you to enjoy the life that you have... :EatThePoor1:

I'm not sure how it has changed me yet but I definatly do feel a change in me and not because I've got the Pattaya blues at the minute but because I do generally have a happy feeling from being there. when I shake these blues off then maybe I'll knwo exactly what it is that has change but I feel it is a channge for the better which can only be a good thing :)

Living and working in Indonesia for five years changed me for the better. Going to Pattaya was the cherry on the icing on the cake. As a result, I am not a conventional part of the western 'system' - married/living with partner, kids, massive mortgage, finding it hard to make ends meet at the end of every month. I made choices and I like what I have chosen. South-East Asia has a lot to offer in every single way.

I love Pattaya and every holiday I have there.
