open return ticket

im looking to book a flight for december 2010. .. i want to return middle of feb 2011.. does any one know how i go about booking an open return ticket and is there an extra cost for this ??? ive looked on airline web sites but cant find no info .... thanks to anyone that can help ....

I would contact a travel agent to get the correct details.

From what I have experenced you have to put some return date on a ticket.

Just make sure of the ticket conditions about inbound change & valid period ei 1 month 2,3 6 or one year.

Some tickets allow you to change for free but most will let you change for a fee.

On avarage the charges for me have been £75 or £100 or less.

That said call the airline & ask about a open return ????

Emirates I have found to be good along with Thai airways.

EVA offers that on there website when your booking theres an "Open Return" option good for a year from what i remeber when i used them last year - i did have to call them when i had my date i wanted to return vs. doing it on the website

Buy a return ticket with the least amount of restricitons.

I've changed dates with Singapore and Thai without any penalty.

Hint, to avoid any fees, it may be better to change the date on the return leg before you even leave on the first leg.

thanks for the info ..... but have changed my mind gonna go november into december ..... and not for so long
