any of you have any recommendations for hotels on Chaweng Beach (Samui)???

 

please let me know,

 

particularly if you know of any of the less known hotels which are often very very special...

i found the rooms rather basic but its exactly what i wanted...food was spot on, staff were great and also had some great parties going on...

 

i would recommend it but im not sure how much you are willing to pay

i am looking for something pretty good,

 

along the lines of the Amari or Mariott in Patts would be good,

 

i also stayed at Le Privee in Patts which was of a much lower class but it proved to be brilliant and great value for money so really any advice wil be welcomed...

 

AND BY THE WAY WOULD LAMAI BE BETTER FOR FUN AND GAMES THAN CHAWENG MAYBE???

im not sure about lamai but there was plenty of fun and games for me in chaweng

The absolute best I found was The Fairhouse Resort, check their website.. expensive as fuck, but if you want very very special..

In stayed here a week, absolutely perfect.

the ark bar hotel is fully booked for xmas !!!!!!!!

I stayed at Chaweng at The island resort & spa (see http://www.theislandsamui.com/). It is about 500 meters from Ark Bar and in my opinion a great location because its more quiet than at Ark Bar but you're there in no time. I think a good value for money resort (right at the beach, nice pool and only a 2 min walk from the party )

Been looking for info about Samui recently as my last visit to Chaweng was july 2002 so lots has changed since then.

From what i have read on different forums and sites is that Chaweng is getting very crowded/touristy with more nightclubs and disco's as bars and that Lamai has an extensive growing barscene with beerbars and a few disco's! The beaches are equal so it's up to you if you feel like clubbing or barcrawling!

Will give full TR when i am back in may 2011!
