Gerhard is Top Scorer of the Week

Gerhard Burger was the highest scorer of the week with a forty-one at Eastern Star on Saturday and a third division win. The closest anyone got to him was the thirty-nines at the Monday outing to Crystal Bay from Howard Tyler (Div 1 winner) and Mark Reuben (Div 2 winner). Mike Rushant also had the same score for his Div 2 win at Phoenix on Thursday.

Gerhard who currently plays off eighteen (now sixteen after that result) heralds from South Africa and has made frequent visits to Thailand for the past five years. But this is his first ever win with the TRGG. Congratulations Gerhard may you have many more.

A further note to all players at the TRGG the courses are getting extremely busy and our entry numbers are getting bigger and bigger so it is very important to sign up early if you want to play a course that you like which is on our February schedule

(this can be found at www.trgg.biz) and avoid possible disappointment.

The star of the week was a trip on Monday the 1st to Crystal Bay. A great turnout and two very full divisions.

Division two was a win for Mark Reuben with his thirty-nine. Second and just one back was Trvor Thorley with thirty-eight. Third was Joe Kowalczyk at thirty-seven.

Division one went to Howard Taylor also with thirty-nine. Second was Jon Dean at thirty-seven. Third went to Steve Smith with thirty-six. Lots of new names these days

There were three two’s from Jon Dean at the forth and John Merritt and Chris Parkington at the seventeenth.

Tuesday the 2nd was a visit to Mountain Shadow. Great turnout and three divisions. Many good reports were heard from all who played.

Division three had Derek Lucas heading the list with his thirty-seven followed home by Jack McNamara at thirty-five and third spot to Stephen Smith with thirty-two.

Division two was a win for Joe Kowalczyk with thirty-seven and two places better than the previous day. Behind him was Liam Horgan at thirty-four after winning the count back over Mike Rushant both at thirty-four.

Division one saw Jon Dean take the top spot with his thirty-six just squeezing out Tewin Lamthong by one point. She found herself on thirty-five. Another Lady was third and that was Mod Chaviraksa at thirty-four.

Well the record for two’s was well and truly broken this time.

Ten in total. Five at the fifth, three at the eighth and two at the fifteenth.

Fergus Brennan, Mod Chaviraksa(2), C. Johnston(2), Ted Senior (2), Tewin Lamthong, Liam Horgan and Danny Whelan

Thursday the 4th and back to Phoenix we went. Mountain and Lakes

The course was as always in excellent condition and played well. A massive entry and four, yes four divisions.

Division four was a win for D. Rickbell (sorry no Christian name supplied) with thirty-seven five back in second was Jeff Wilcox at thirty-two. Third was Alan Evand with thirty-one and forth to Anna Hannigan with thirty after winning the count back over Greg Hill.

Division Three saw a win for Mike Quill with his thirty-four. Second Kim Stokes with thirty-seven John Merritt third with thirty-six.

Division Two was a win for Billy Ostle an thirty-eight. Second Mab Jiwa at thirty-seven and Mike Rushant third with thirty-six and forth to Brendan Moore with thirty-four

Division One was a win for Garry Blackborne and his thirty-seven. Second went to Ted Lodge at thirty-six. Kevin Waycott came in third at thirty-five and forth Hall Thomlinson winning a count back over Steve Carlton both at thirty-three. No two’s and a big pot which bought a drink for every one back at the Travellers Rest after Fergus rang the bell inn traditional fashion.

Saturday the 6th and off yet again to Khao Kheow

A very, very good turnout for us yet again. We were again restricted to an entry of forty players by the course but we still had three full divisions.

No rain this week to mess things about and some very good scores posted.

In Division three Martin Solberg took third spot with thirty-four. Second went to Laurin Brinn (a new lady in our midst) with thirty-five but the winner with a massive forty-one and highest score of the week was Gerhard Burger.

Division two saw a win for Danny Whelan with thirty-three followed in by Sam Mclellan at thirty-two and in third spot at thirty was Joe Kowalczyk after winning four way count back over Frank Courtney, Kim Stokes and Lain horgan

The winner of Division one was Tewin Lamthong with her thirty-eight this has put her back yet again to a single figure handicap 9 after slipping back earlier in the week to 10.

Second was Vic Hansen with thirty-seven. Third spot went to Richard Wakeling with his thirty-three.Only two two’s Tewin Lamthong and Danny Whelan.
