Cambodia Visa Run - Twat with A fake visa

I thought that I would write about a Visa run, just for the hell of it, you never can tell what shite people want to read haha.

Two days ago I knew that my B Visa was about to expire, they last for 12 months and you need to leave before the last day, to get your extra 3 months. Which means that you can get 15 months on a 12 month visa.

I have been with a fair few border run companies and to start with I went with the cheaper ones, not thinking about the VIP ones. The VIP companies are far better than the economy ones and are definitely worth the extra cash. You get large seating with wireless headsets and non stop movies. I have never been disappointed with the movies either. Although this trip it did seem apparent that some people are unaware of the headsets available.

First of all, I called 1st Class Visa company as I have been with them before 3 times, and always been happy, they couldn't book me in the day I wanted, so i agreed to go the following morning. This was a mistake thinking about it, as the house water had been shut off all day, and i tried to go to bed for a few hours, only having a bottle of water to clean, by the time i departed the house for the visa, the water was still off and i felt horrible, without cleaning good.

Previously a few years ago, I always choose to get pissed and turn up at the visa run ready to go to sleep, but I have sorted myself out a bit since then lol. I have seen some right horrors turning up on the cheaper runs, guys that were so pissed that they forgot to bring money for overstay.

The VIP service was arranged for me and I had to be at the Queen Vic for 6 am to eat the breakfast, which is included with the visa run costs. I handed over my passport and also brought some passport photos with me, you must remember to get these to save time, if you don't remember every border has facilities. (usually 100 baht) but you will be slowing them down.

As you sit there at 6 am, all the paper work is sorted and you simply just sign all the stuff, this is to save time at the border, and because there is only 7 people its pretty quick.

The breakfast menu isn't very big, its been made specifically for the visa run, the portions are rather small, but its enough to keep you lasting. This is when the driver came over to tell me that I was sitting in the front, this got me annoyed as, I specifically called up a VIP company because I want the TV, large seats and leg space, after all I am big. The price is 300 baht less sitting in the front, I did save money, but I didn't kick up a fuss, because as it happens, I hadn't slept all night because I didn't want to miss it, so sitting in the front wasn't much of a problem, it was still spacious and comfortable, but not ideal for my leg room.

On this visa run, I decided to be sensible and left Sattahip 2 hours early. At 4 am I left Sattahip, its very beautiful and quiet at that hour, I was expecting to be dodging dead dogs on my journey to Pattaya, but I didn't see any dead animals and I didn't get sprayed with insects at that hour. When I arrived at Pattaya Thai at around 4.45 am, the market near the temple/school were full of sexy freelancers having an after work feast, it made me think about having a shagathon or event involving that area. The girls were looking at me, as there last attempt to get another cock in the arse and paper in there wallet, there was quite a few gangs of ladyboys, so if spitroasting is your thing, then that hour and location will no doubt be written on your desk. As I drove around LK Metro, and other sois, most of the places were shut, then I got to soi backeuw to go to the 24 hour chemists down there, the boy karaoke's were busy with bar girls hiring out thai guys with farangs money. There was a load of old expats drinking cheap bottles of beer outside a Thai shop, you would have thought that by that age, they would be doing better than that!

I decided to hit cherry bar to see who was still vertical or just about vertical, and hammer and another 2 guys were there, more and more guys seemed to be coming down the soi, looking for girls, I did see a girl that was very beautiful next door and was winking at me, but i noticed she already had a customer. By this time the light was starting to come up, and normally when that happens I try and go back to the hotel, but for a rarity, I didn't feel depressed from the light going up. (i always get depressing flashbacks from the days of taking pills and doing all nighters) Hammer was telling me how the tattoo'd thai guy, is often fucking dogs around the back of the bars, and when he has cash he goes up to treppassit road soi 8 to fuck the ladies!!!!

As I drove down Soi 6, there were still yaa baa'ed up ladyboys, with blood shot eyes and looks of desperation, that would clearly scare the shit out of anyone in day light, yet I guess the need for more drugs was pushing them working into daylight, later as we got in the minibus, there was still ladyboys turning around and doing there swirling thing, at that hour in the morning, there is nothing else to look at. All the Soi 6 doors are closed, its a sad state at that hour.

After our breakfast we were presented with a bottle of water and then we boarded the bus, I still had to sit in the front, one of the guys had brought his GF with him on the visa run, it seemed like he was a bit clueless about Thailand, so he was probably a newbie... every other word that rolled out of him was a swear word, and he spoke fluent accented fast English to his lady, there is no way that she could understand it, he has yet to learn slowing down and speaking simple, also his aggressive posture, speech and skin head probably doesn't win him points with the Thais.

I met a great guy that worked in Ethiopia, he was telling me that there are loads of jobs available but the locals cant be bothered, they would rather be homeless and live in the gutter than have to work, he also said they excrete all over the place and oxfam's campaign asking us for clothes is a joke, they stay in their rags and sell the clothes in bags for 30p, his company buys them off the locals to use as rags. He said most of the locals sit around taking "chat" which is a legal hallucinogenic, people are all over the place talking to cars, themselves, just crazy from the drugs. He noted how many limbless people there are, probably from untreated infections.

The visa run was going normal, we got out and waved our passports to leave Thailand, then we waited while our paperwork was being done, they took us to the casino and shops, some guys brought fake kamagra, cheaper cigarettes, one guy brought whisky and red wine. I seen boxes of Penfolds Bin 2 available, next time I will be prepared to buy some of that. I cant stand the casino, its just got that bad feel about it, the big clumpy arm bandit looked like they were from the 80's 90's, no appeal at all.

When we were entering Thailand again (it sounds like we went in Cambodia for more than a few metres) I was the second in the queue, the guy infront of me was taking a long time, and then the Thai guy who was checking his passport laughed at the stamps and threw it to the senior officer, who was dealing with me, I got through ok, I always check to make sure they have given me the correct stamp, then i moved on.

The immigration officers, let all the queues of various sorts get through, and they made one of our guys wait, they also came to our minibus and went over other guys passports again, they were really going for the checks with our group because of this guy.

It turned out this guys flight stamps never added up and said that he had a fake visa, we the rest of the group waited it out in the van... 2 hours later, we are still sitting around getting pretty pissed off, i was just about to phone the owner of 1st class visa, to ask what is happening, then the driver came out and said that the guy isn't coming and we are going now!!!

This guy owes us all at least a short time, waiting for 2 hours cuz of his fake visa. It turns out the police asked the guy to admit that it was fake and what company did it, then he could be let back in and accidently loose his passport... but he wouldnt do it as he was scared of getting in trouble... the visa company tried to reason with him, asking him to confess so he could get back in, but he didn't believe the police or the company.

Eventually he was pushed back on the Cambodia side. where he was adviced to fly home, or risk flying to BKK where they are less likely to notice. Having had no shower the night before and being hot in the front of the van, i was glad that i could now have a seat in the back of the vehicle.... but that was my planned short time gone... i wanted to get back to work earlier and those 2 hours killed our day.

Thats a lesson for those with expired/fake visas, if you get kicked out, your going to need money and its not like you have time to tie up loose ends or feed the dog.

Once I got back to the Queen Vic, it was amusing trying to explain to a service girl that one of them went monkey house.. she thought I was joking. The owner of the visa company explained to us what happened and apologised several times, she is definitely not to blame, its just life. On arrival you get another small meal without a drink, there was another very sexy beer promo girl in there, and i got outside and it hurt me alot to walk away without having a suck and fuck!

BTW smoking around the government building carries a 2000 baht fine.

I've done this trip about 10 times. Used to do the cheep ones but for the extra 500 baht the VIP service is definitely worth it. And I won 500 baht on craps my last trip so it made up for the difference. Also, you often meet some cool people. There are two expats I met who I still stay in contact with while in patts.

One thing that scared me my last trip was they lost my pictures and gave me someone else's picture to give to immigration. They sorted through a stack of about 100 extra pictures they had and just gave me one that looked a little like me, but about 10 years older. So I go through and hand my papers over and the girl looks at the picture, looks at me, then shows me it and asks if its me. I said no and started to worry about what was going to happen but she looked at her desk, picked up a different picture and asked me if that one was of me. Luckily my lost picture had turned up on her desk. Everything turned out fine but I'm sure the situation could have been a lot worse.

I'm glad I do the cheap and cheerful trip - no measly breakfast, no two hour delay and 500 baht still in my pocket. After reading this, I now know what I am missing out on.

On one of my runs, we had some Libyan bloke who had somehow entered the country without getting a visa, so of course immigration detained him but not without making the rest of us hang around for an hour or two extra. Naturally, we abandoned him to his fate of being a total knob head.

Be scene and not herd.

lol thats the first time that we had to wait! The extra 500 is worth it for the space, reclining chairs and movie.

In the ideal world, the guys who get us held up for a few hours, should pay everyone to get a ST.

They seem to check visas out carefully at Poi Pet. When I went last month the guy looked at my visa for a long time. He asked where I got it from. I guess there must be quite a few idiots who try using fakes there.

hehe and make sure she's a stunner!

Couldn't the Visa company inspect passports for fakes BEFORE you leave for the run? I mean you are paying a premium for a class service and there is already paperwork time included....

I think that money is more important, there are probably a fair few guys with fakes who get away with it all the time, maybe they knew already but didn't want to turn him down.

A great big Thanks Laamok for the post and the link. I have a Triple Multi-Entry Tourist Visa issued in Canada each for 60 days and was wondering about Border runs. This post sums it up thanks...

I was supposed to arrive in November but due to current work project I have been delayed a few weeks...Again thanks for all the help and information I will still have to depart LOS by May 14/2010 but look forward to the many months that I will spend in Patts.

Thanks for the trip report. I've been coming to Pattaya since 1999 but never stayed long enough to command a vesus run. This time however I did not get a 60 day tourist from the USA which I probably should have. I have an entry visa from the airport. Will a VIP visa run to cambodia give me another 30 days?

thanks!
