The Dawin Hotel Nana

Just some feedback re the Darwin which I stayed at Recently

Location

Located in Sukumvit Soi 4 about 200 meters up Soi 4 on the left hand side driving from Sukumvit.

Very close to the action in Nana Plaza and also good shopping, walking distance from the Skytrain. Easy to get to the airport via the tollways.

Price

I booked and paid on line using www.thaihoteldiscounts.com

it cost me 1,830 Baht for a single room.

I checked with the receptionist and to pay cash would cost 1900 Baht.

So you save 70 Baht if you book on line, but if you pay cash you do not have to give your credit card number. Hence in future I would pay cash as I do not like giving my credit card number.

Room Quality

The hotel is new, very nice, the room was nice but I thought small. Mind you I might have been spoiled by staying as the Aspen Suites in Soi 2 where you get a huge room. However it is adequate.

No complementary water etc.

Also no major news channel on the TV, no BBC or CNN or aljazera.

Food

Not sure I did not eat there but seems adequate.

Staff

All staff are friendly

Guest friendly

No problem getting guests into your room, they have to give their ID card and you get a call when they leave to make sure you are OK.

Deposit

You pay a deposit of 500 Baht and get this back no problem.

So it was OK but not my ideal as the room size was on the small size.

Hope this has been usefull to you.

Nice report Goblin,

For a 1 night stay, probably better to pay at the hotel since the saving is small.

However for a 5 night stay, the rate is 1,680 Baht X 5 nights + 150 Baht processing is 8,550 Baht against 1,900 X 5 9,500 Baht( direct with the hotel).

From Nov 1st the rate increases to 1,837 Baht per night.

Stayed a couple of nights in October. I really liked the hotel, everything new and clean. Agree with the small rooms. If staying longer, the size may start to feel confining. Flatscreen TV, lots of channels, especially sports. The room was small, but the bathroom was relatively large. Big shower with closing door (no wet floors). Good water pressure and AC.

Recommended.

Being a old Dynasty Inn regular, I was glad to stay at the Dawin. It's clean, new, bright and airy, the air con is nice and quiet, plus it's girl friendly, Bed was comfortable also.

Theres quite a few eateries along that soi, so food is no problem.

Will definitly stay there again

Couldn't have said it better myself. I had good experience for three night stay there last year. Like to try new places and leaning towards Adelphi Suites for upcoming trip.

I've found that with most sites that after they add taxes and fees it ends up a similar fee to book direct with the hotel, and with booking direct with Dawin, no credit card information is required to reserve a room.

Stayed at the Dawin for the first 5 and last 3 nights of my recent 16 day trip to LOS.

Got a Superior for the first and a Standard for the second, the only major difference was the lack of a bathtub in the Standard, only a shower. Next time I'll just take the Standard and save 500 baht a night.

Pics of the Superior below

Nice spot as previously noted, good location and guest friendly

I can recommend this hotel too!

It is a new and modern hotel not very far from the action at Nana.

My room was nice and clean with a flat-screen television.

The shower was big enough for me and a TG showering together.biggrin.gif

The size of the room was OK for one person + a visitor.

It was not noisy from the street at all.

They had some special curtains to keep the light out for those who want to sleep a little longer.

Breakfast was charged extra.

Which was not bad, because I normally wake up too late for the breakfast.

They had no buffet but you order it "á la carte".

Actually they were not too quick with the breakfast.

There were lots of food stalls in Sukhumivt Soi 4 with cheap and tasty Thai food.

It is a little walk but still close enough to the Skytrain from the hotel.

There are lots of ATM and moneychangers on Sukhumvit nearby.

The staff was friendly.

I was a bit surprised to be asked for a deposit of 500 THB in cash.

I paid 1990 THB for the room.

Now I read that you can get it even cheaper.

I will stay there again next time.smile.gif

I stayed 2 nights in July. Paid 1750 cash i think for a standard room.

Room was quite good & looked abit bigger than pics shown earlier in thread.

Outside pool on the roof & no joiner fees for girls.

one negative thing i heard is that they lock the door to the pool at about 6pm so if you want to chill out there at night you cant , which is a pity as it is something i sometimes like to do ,

its a great feeling sitting by a pool on a warm night with a cold beer just listening to the sounds of the city

"And were you pleased?" they asked Helen in Hell.

"Pleased?" answered she,when all Troy's towers fell;

And dead were Priam´s sons, and lost his throne?

And such a war was fought as none had known;

And even the Gods took part; and all because

Of me alone! Pleased?

I should say I was!"

Only two hotels I've stayed at were this one and the Majestic Suites and this one IMO is a bit better. Free wi-fi no joiner fees and about a five min )ok maybe 10) walk to Lolita's on Soi 8 also you pass NEP just about everyday walking up to Sukh + Annie's massage is not too far either. Staff is awesome, receptionist Oak (I believe the spelling is correct) provided excellent customer service.. not to mention she is a little hottie

My mother share to me her experience to that Darwin hotel. She told me that this hotel is the perfect setting for cocktail parties, celebratory dinners, weddings and other occasions as well as catering for groups of people. And after a tiring day, you can relax in the hotel's plunge pool, or burn some calories at the nearby gymnasium, or go walking, jogging or cycling around the city.

Nice enough hotel. Only stayed there once - my regular place, Grand Sukhumvit on soi six, was full - but I was amazed how many ladyboys there were. Nearly put me off my breakfast!

LMFAO.gif hahahahahhaaaahaaa I know right... I was there and they are everywhere I saw one harassing a older guy and his TG and all I caught in the brief seconds it took me to walk by was the guy saying something to the effect of "look I don't want it... ok?!!... ok!!? leave me the hell alone... okay?!!!" the LB just shook his head and said "ok sah" LBs not my cup of tea they don't seem to bother me I just speak and keep going on about my business
