Does this visa scenario work

Can i do this? get a double entry visa in Australia and top up in LOS and do the below scenario

 

30 days visa + border run = 15 days + first entry visa = 90 days + border run = 15 days + second entry = 90 days = 240 days or 8 months

Wouldn't it be easier to get a Non Immigrant "O" Visa - valid for upto 15 months and only have to do visa runs every 3 months, and its multi entry - just say you are visiting friends then you would not have to do 15 day visa runs.

I would say that it would be a shit load easier. The OPs scheme would probably work but it is inconvenient and probably will cost more in the long term than getting a multiple entry non-imm O visa. They are very easy to get in Perth and Bresbane but I am not sure about elsewhere.
