I was going to bring my laptop because I need to do some shit on the internet on my trip.

Do most hotels have a wireless connection close by ?

Quite a lot of hotels have it, especially the upper range.

There are plenty of other places, like starbucks, I think that pattaya beach is covered by wireless.

The full beach is covered by wi-fi, but its not free I think it works on a pay as you go system, I had my ipod touch with me last trip and found plenty of free spots around, not much help for you with a laptop tho I know, I think most of the hotels now have wi-fi now as a lot of people choose rooms based on wi-fi availability.

Haven hotel Soi 13 near the beach has a good restaurant and free wifi so you could have breakfast or lunch there. The Pattaya Beer Garden is built out over the sea at the end of the beach start of Walking Street the advantage being it's not only free but there are sockets for you to plug your laptop into.

Lots of restaurants and bars now have free Wireless and most newly built guesthouses have free Internet connections in their rooms as well!

I just bought a new Samsung NC10 mini laptop, that I will bring along on my next trips instead of my heavy old Acer 3000 15.4 ', easy to carry and instead of being confined to my hotelroom or an expensive Internet café I can use it anywhere I like!
