Majestic suites, No pool but can use the pool at the Majestic Grande if staying at the suites.

The grande pool isn't huge but its ok. They have lockers and towels.

For BKK you could try the D and D inn on Khao San road. It's got mixed reviews but I thought it was ok for the money (750B) and the staff were fine to me. Great pool/bar on the roof. Perfect place to chill.

Sorry mate, I seemed to have put the thread on the wrong footing by offering Pattaya hotel option (oops !).

I would strongly advise you get in touch with Tim at http://www.otelrooms.com/ and select "contact us".

Tim is a BM here and uses his old company name as ThaiHotelDiscounts, so I suppose you could PM him with your request. He has many hotels in his portfolio that are cheaper than many of the advertised internet rates (and walk in to the hotel rates). I used him for my trip in April and can say that I have never had such great customer service.

If you are looking for cheap and cheerful, I used to stay at Malaysia hotel which is located opposite Lumphini Boxing Stadium. Everything is a taxi ride away (about 50 baht) http://www.malaysiahotelbkk.com/ The staff are fabulous and there is a really cheap and fantastic traditional massage parlour adjoined to it. Depending on which room you go for, their rates are 698 baht to 928 baht. Good sized pool and no joiner fee (regardless of how many guests you bring back).

Manhattan for cheap. Real nice pool. I hope they've 'rerubbished' the rooms though. You can get the Dawin or Admiral Premier for $40. That's cheap to me. wj

on Soi Rambutri, as you're coming from Khao San Road, there's one on the right. Can't for the life of me remember its name.

It's quite near the top, maybe a hundred metres down, after the Sawsadee restaurant.

It's set back from the road on a square with a fish pond in the middle. There are a few internet cafes, restaurants and tailors around the square.

There's a small seven eleven and pharmacy just after the square.

It's clean and cheap. It's huge so I doubt it'd be full.

There's a pool on the roof.

Might be a bit backpacker trail for you, but Soi Rambutri is alot nicer than KSR itself.
