On my last trip to LOS I bought a Thai SIM and it worked fine in my Motorola phone, topped up at any 7?11; but is there any way to stop the endless stream of bizzarre ads that seem to appear on the phone constantly ?

I used the phone's menu to "disable" these ads, but they still keep coming; albeit, now disabled so advert message is blanked out, and am I charged for this stuff?

from memory I'm on the Thai GSM network

I have 1 2 call and a 'friend' turned it off recently for me. I really am not sure how though.
