Can you get a Mortgage in Pattaya?

Hey,

I am 42 years old and I have thought of retirement from time to time in Pattay area.

Are the Condos there strictly a cash business or is there Mortgages available?

If I found a place I liked, I think a 10 year mortgage would be great. Pay the place off while working my way to retirement.

loads of developers and sellers will do deals that are in effect a mortgage X down then monthly payments

any decent estate agent would point you in the right direction but yes it is possible

Very unlikely, Thai banks will only give you loans for as long as your work permit is valid, if it is tied in with your visa then the max period would be 1 year, there is supposedly a Singapore bank that is interested in giving loans for property in Thailand, can't remember the name of it offhand, but that was before the world collapsed financially so to speak so they may not be so enthusiastic about the idea at this time.

That is not correct. I recently got a loan for a new car from a Thai bank. I was on a non-imm type-o visa that is now expired. If they are prepared to give loans for cars I can't see why they wouldn't do it for property.
