Chinese condo buyers comming?

I am sitting here reading an norwegian magazine . There's an investor-guide regarding buying retirement property. Spain and US and so on are discussed. The the article ends with:

My question to the Forum:

We have seen several waves of buyers in recent years:

US & Englishmen

Australians

Scandinavians

And now lately Russians

But have we seen any Chine's buying of holiday property?

And to what extent?

I guess it is easy these days to mention China as the next whatever. But I don't think so. The "Middle Class' of China, if there is much of one, have a good life there. But I don't see them able to shell out the prices I see advertised for foreign owned Condos in Thailand. Recent political issues in Thailand don't scare away sex tourists but believe me Asians think differently about these things. I don't see many Chinese in Pattaya unless they are on a tour bus at a shopping center or Soapy massage. Not sure about Phuket

 

I think people said the same thing about Japanese when Japan was booming but I did not hear of them snatching up holiday real estate in Thailand.

They are investing but I have no idea of the volume. One local developer told me at the weekend that several prebuild units in his development have been purchased by Chinese investors. Most likely professionals rather than individuals if they are buying "several".

I remember a conversation I had with someone, I forget who, but there were some large Chinese investments in nice houses not too far from Pattaya. Apologies, as I cannot remember the details.

There are definitely Chinese/Taiwan condo buyers, but I haven't seen anything significant personally.
