To put it kindly, there seems to be some distance between my idea of who the Thai tourism sector should target (USA, Western Europe, Australia, other rich countries with stable economies); and who the Thais seem to think they should target (India, China, Russia, etc.).  My uneducated guess is that the aforementioned "challenges" might possibly be related to that, but that may just be my ego talking.  Or not...
