After this happens they report 98% of flights to France from Bangkok return empty from France.

As surely this is the way Thailand wants to go, free short term visas, and expensive long term visas.

Not the part I was referring to. I would like to take my gf to Europe. Not an easy thing at present. What I alluded to above was the idea that Thais might gain easier access. And I want to see it before I believe it.

I doubt this will ever happen, at least not in the way it is being presented. A true Schengen reciprocal deal would allow all Thais to visit any European country for up to 90 days in every 180 day period. The number of BGs that would be flown over by their rich sponsors or go working as hookers like they already do in Dubai / Singapore etc, would rise significantly. Thailand will never let all their hot LBFMs leave the country like that.

The government is confident that a new trade and cooperation framework will be unveiled this year with the European Union. Among the provisions will be visa-free access to the Schengen zone for Thai passport holders. It will also include a free trade agreement, which will boost Thailand’s efforts to attract inward investment. The news comes ahead of Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin’s visit to France and Italy this week.

If one looks at the list of countries do not require Schengen visas, Thailand should not have a problem.

The biggest thing european countries are afraid of would be amount of Thais that would go missing and overstay. They come and get cash in hand jobs.

 PM Srettha said today, Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni told him she will support Thailand's bid to seek visa exemption for Thai passport holders to Schengen countries after he told her the move will strengthen economic ties & people to people exchanges.
