Koh Samui 3 hotels 2 weeks

Recommended Posts

So I’m one hotel down and 2 to go over 2 weeks in Koh Samui

This is a  holiday with my wife.  No naughty bits.

First stop was Bo Phut.   We stayed 4 days in “The Villager” in fishermans village.   We chose the fancy room on the smallish pool and loved it.

Breakfast was included across the road.  Simple but good.   Wifi was good.  Close to 50 restaurants and a terrific night market (food and junk) every second day.  Many many Europeans.  It all felt very safe.    Shop around for the best exchange.   Some are 2 baht different.

Clean.  Good service, close to the restaurants and very tame nightlife

Second stop is Lamai beach.   An older resort trying hard.  We  booked a beachside bungalow. It’s tiny but does the trick.  Just a few deckchairs to the beach.  No check in flexibility despite the room being empty. Poor form.   More tomorrow

Lanai is quite different to BoPhut.  There are beer bars with mixed lady boys and girls and just girls.  Not too busy early on the evening.  Plenty of restaurants.   At the end of the street to Lamai Coconut resort is a great bar with good happy hour.   Girls not on the menu despite the shirts.

Thanks for the Pics and brief write ups.

Always love Samui and my favourite thing strangely enough is the Airport, so pretty with outstanding Toilets One cannot but help loving the fish and elegance when going for a shit or piss

The Lamai Coconut Beach resort is growing on me.  The pool is great.  Not at all busy in the mornings

the room while small has a nice overlook to the beach.  The beach is a lot calmer after the first few days and has been good to relax in.
IMG_6715.thumb.jpeg.79aad389fd681ab9887c08ebf3e2c7ba.jpegOut and about we’ve found some great restaurants and live music and people watching bars.   Compared to our recent Phuket experience the 99bt cocktails are full strength here

cheapest dinner was a little 6 table number HarrysBar. Very genuine Thai run by a lovely lady.   Going back for their all day breakky today

also some handy little rooms around for you and your new paramour

went on a speedboat snorkeling trip.  … ok except for the boat…. No windows, no comfort I’d forgotten how spartan those boats are… single purpose squeeze em in and get there fast.  Slow boats for me in future.
Streets around Lamai are good for walking.   Plenty to see.  IMG_6717.thumb.jpeg.71167f192ae30a498c4871aa4fb180dd.jpeg

Stop number 3 is La Vida Chaweng.  We decided to keep the most expensive until last.    The main purpose of this trip was to find somewhere to come back to    This hotel is the best of the three.  Let’s live here a few days and see if it’s a nice location… restaurants, bars etc.  anyway.. some pics

Nice reviews mate, I haven’t been to Samui in years but do want to get back there. I love the fact the have so many beach side resorts, it’s great.

Chaweng started well and then went a bit whiffy

La Vida resort has remained good although the bar closing at 9.30 on a Saturday thereby depriving us of our beachside night cap was a low point.
The whiffy bit was the Friday evening stench.    Think Pattaya in summer with no rain for 2 weeks.   Seems to have cleared now thankfully.
There is a younger set of tourists here compared to Lamai and Bophut.   The beach is by far the best and the restaurants are fine but busy.  The Lamai restaurants and streets were a bit classier and relaxed.   Certainly not so busy.
We did the Divas tranny show last night… had a good laugh.  Even had the main gal sit on my lap.  Bonus.

the drinks include entry   2nd group is normal prices

Had to try the Diva

How’s the p4p scene there? Any tips and suggestions? I will be there in June for like 3 days!

If you’re on the hunt I’d suggest Chaweng of the 3 towns  I stayed.

In Chaweng there are freelance bars on the main drag with pretty standard freelancers … can’t help you on price.   There are also  massage places with extras on offer.   The cut off jeans rather than uniforms give them away.  I even saw a place with poles inside but it was still early

in Lamai I did get a few “looks” walking down the street but not much on offer at all

Main Street Chaweng last night.  Even the cement trucks are in the party mood

Love the updates so thanks for that. Haven't been to Samui in 20 years and while the view from the resort in Chaweng looks the same, the night shot is definitely not what I remember. I'm keen to head back at some point and have a look myself.
