The Whisper Hotel - A Review

I stayed here in December 2024 / January 2025 for 2 weeks. This was the first different hotel I have tried since 2017 - I have booked D hotel and D Apartment exclusively for all my trips since the so decided to write a review. I have added all the photos of the hotel and facilities in at the end and on separate posts following.

Where Is The Whisper hotel?

Its address is given as Soi 15 but it is actually on a Soi that I believe is known as Soi Casino, which runs between Soi Buakhao and Soi 15, located at the Soi 15 end. Soi Casino is between the Sun View Place hotel and large 7/11 (formerly a Tesco I think) towards the market end of Buakhao and is partially developed. It is a dirt track at the Buakhao end and only becomes concreted when you reach The Whisper hotel and Kokotel Pattaya South Beach, which is opposite, and then joins Soi 15 at The Avenue Residences. There are vacant lots on either side of the dirt track part which look like are being prepared for development so presumably when that happens the Soi will become fully tarmacadamed. 

Is The Whisper hotel Easy to Get To?

Its fairly easy to get to. From 2nd Road you can either go along Soi 15 where it starts near the Pattaya Tai end or you can cut through The Avenue Shopping Centre to 15. From LK Metro you can take the short cut alleyway between Diana just past The Areca Lodge onto 15 and you can get a Baht Bus in either direction on Buakhao and walk down Soi Casino. Its 5-10 mins walking time in all of the above scenarios; the hotel also has motorbike taxi men nearby on 15 at the junction and every motorbike I took there or Bolt taxi I ordered had no problems finding it.

Is The Whisper hotel Expensive?

I paid 1250 baht a night in advance on Agoda. I thought this was great value for what you got (see photos below). The hotel appears to be at the 1,200 - 1,500 baht price point which I think is very fair.

Does The Whisper hotel Have Good Facilities?

It does. The hotel is laid out over 8 floors, has a breakfast room (breakfast is available from 7-10 I think but I never tried it), 2 lifts, a rooftop pool, a spacious reception with seating area and bar and a gym (although for some reason there is no equipment in it at present). There is ample parking also. The hotel has a sort of musical theme running through it, with pictures of Elvis and John Lennon at the back of the entrance area near the lifts, the lifts themselves decorated with photos of album sleeves and the rooms have piano keys behind the bed which light up as well as a saxophone shaped lighting feature. Soft music plays constantly throughout the hotel.

What About the Staff at The Whisper hotel?

I thought they were exceptional and clearly had received substantial training. Clad in purple uniforms emblazoned with the hotel name, there were two receptions ladies on at all times who were extremely professional, polite and helpful; there is also a doorman who doubles as a concierge if you require anything. Cleaning ladies work in pairs and the two I had were very pleasant and were happy to clean, restock and freshen up my room until as late as 16.00.

Is The Whisper hotel Guest Friendly?

Yes, and there is no joiner fee for one guest, I don't know about any more than that. The doorman / concierge has his own desk opposite reception and this is where visitors hand in and retrieve their IDs; the custom phone call is made to your room before any guests leave. Note that if you accompany a guest in to the hotel reception will not ask for their ID if you don't want them to.

How Are The Rooms At The Whisper hotel?

I thought my room was outstanding for the money. Rooms in the hotel are laid out either side of a central corridor and all have quite large balconies with decent quality furniture and the aircon unit in a caged area to one side of the balcony. Balconies are very private too and the room I was on on the 4th floor of the Soi Casino side got excellent sun all day. The balcony is accessed via a sliding door and there is a blackout curtain that can be drawn at night. The room is very well soundproofed. The doors and fixtures and fittings are of superior quality.

The room is around 42 square metres which is really quite big; there is a firm double bed (twin rooms also available) and a sofa with a round table. There is about a 40 inch flat screen TV too and possibly the most storage of any room I have ever stayed in. There are two separate units with drawers either side of the beds, a long unit to the left of where the TV is with table space for laptop working and then beneath the TV a unit with three more drawers; 3 cupboards, a shelf and ample counter space above the fridge, which is quite compact but spacious enough; two drawers and another cupboard next to the fridge. There are then two further drawers under the shelf for putting your suitcase on between the fridge and the wardrobe and finally the wardrobe itself, where the safe is located and which has a rail for hanging clothes, a shelf above the rail and another half a dozen drawers / pigeon holes. More than enough space for a long stay.

Aircon in the room is quiet and an inbuilt unit controlled from the wall, there is more than ample lighting and plugs, USB ports and the clean room / do not disturb sign is electronically controlled. Towels and bed linen are of a very good standard; there is a kettle and tea and coffee are provided along with glasses with the hotel name on and a bottle opener. Two glass 500 ml bottles of Crystal Water are provided daily. Whisper hotel bathrobes are also provided which are great for lounging around on the balcony in or heading up to the pool.

The bathroom is accessed via a sliding door and again is of a very high standard; there is a rainhead shower in the separate shower cubicle and shampoo and shower gel are provided, along with a hairdryer. Water pressure is extremely high. 

How is swimming pool at The Whisper hotel?

The pool is on the roof which has good views out to Jomtien, a lot of sun and very little wind. The pool was about a metre deep and maybe 15 metres long by 5 wide; there is a children's pool and jacuzzi feature. Purple towels are provided and there are loungers with sun canopies. There is a bar at the pool but that was closed for some reason although you could phone down to reception and have drinks delivered up as you wished.

What about the gym at The Whisper hotel?

Is empty of any equipment so is really more of a meditation / yoga room. Not sure what is going on there.

Are there shops near to The Whisper hotel?

There is a 7/11 up on Buakhao and another round on 15 both of which are about 150-200 metres away; you can get coffee and food at the Kokotel opposite if you wish. Nearest bar is either on Buakhao or on 15 at the back of The Avenue.

Final thoughts on The Whisper hotel?

I thought that for the price it was excellent and will stay here again. There are a few drawbacks though which, although they didn't bother me, some might find offputting:

Although the hotel is in Central Pattaya, it is in a very quiet, out of the way location and facilities like 7/11s, bars and restaurants are not right next to it (less than a 5 minute walk though but of course some hotels are right in the thick of the action)

The access from Buakhao on the dirt track is not the best so anyone with walking difficulties should probably give it a miss although it is easy enough if you are on Buakhao to just walk down and round Soi 15 itself to the hotel and remain on concrete all the time. It did not rain at all during my stay so I didn't see what the track turned into during a downpour but I can imagine it might be a quagmire. Motorbikes and cars do get up and down the track OK, although somewhat gingerly, except those cars which are lowriders. The track is also dark at night and, whilst I never felt unsafe at all, might not be to everyone's liking.

One last thing I noticed was that Baht buses coming from the market can be up to 10 minutes and, when they do come, be full as the hotel is in that sort of no man's land between the market and LK Metro with no one getting off with the bus probably waiting until its full to leave the market.

I have booked this hotel for the beginning of february for 19 nights. Since i have never stayed there befor i am very happy to read your positive review.

Stayed there for my first ever couple of nights in Pattaya before moving to Lenkee.Decent enough place for sure.

Just a couple of things to add: I found it a very spacious hotel, in a world now where a lot of new hotels are putting a real premium on space and some rooms are almost closet sized this hotel really does feel very sizeable.

For years and years I have been staying exclusively at the Klang end of Buakhao, in the 3 Ds and the calendar hotels. This was a real change of scene for me as I have never really spent that much time is this area of Patts so it was great to explore and discover new things such as, for example The Harry House Bakery nearby on Buakhao which does superb coffee, pastries and bread. Nicky's is close too - another excellent place for food.

Great to just freshen things up and change one's perspective.

This hotel looks excellent value for the money and is under consideration for my next trip in April. Like you I am a D hotel regular and this one seems evenly matched. I really like the small sofa/table area, is that in all rooms or an option?

Thanks for the review. hotel looks nice. I like a bit of space in the room size and a quiet nights sleep.

Handy enough to baht bus, and I don't mind walking. Will see what rates are like when I return next.

Sofa table area is in all rooms - I believe all rooms are exactly the same, except some have twin beds

I was thinking that although this is at the same sort of price point as D hotel you do get a lot more I think - just location I suppose is where D maybe has the advantage.

Sorry for missing that. WIFI was strong and fast when you were logged in although if you weren't using the internet you would get kicked out after maybe 5 minutes. One way round this was to leave the phone plugged in if say you were waiting for a message on LINE from a teerak for example.

Someone who is more technologically advanced than me may be able to suggest a way to solve this but I never found it to be a problem TBH

During the 15 roadworks shit show, my Nam driver had to make our way through this soi. She said they refer to it as... Soi Pothole

I stayed here not long after it opened.  The rooms are very spacious, as I believe it started out in construction as an apartment building and was going to be studio apartments, but swtiched to being a hotel at some point. Once you know this, you can see what they did to modify it. I didn't really have any complaints about the hotel, but having been back to Pattaya multiple times since, I haven't stayed there again. Overall I found it quite nice, but it does have its downsides.

Some might find it a "soi too far", as it is a bit far to walk from LK Metro while at the same time being not far at all. If you take a lady, get a motorbike to the hotel.

As noted in the OP, the road down to Soi Buakhao is dirt and if it is raining, or has rained, it can be muddy at the very least.  Or you can turn right out of the hotel and walk along the cement road towards the back of The Avenue.  Not that convenient, but better than getting dirty.

In summary, not a horrible option and there are a lot worse places to stay.
