Today is the last day of my trip and I thought I would share my experiences of this hotel 21/12 to 31/12. This is my second time staying jere, the first being before my wedding in October 2018. It was busier this time but the experience was similar.

We booked the Premier Sea View for around £110 a night for 10 nights. When we arrived we found that the room was very close to the road and was quite noisy. This was room 526 and was on the corner of the building so the second closest room to the toad available. The 528 people are screwed.

We complained and after some back in forth they upgraded us to a club room which is a couple doors further away from the road and two floors up. Room number was 722 and it is a Club Room with Sea View.

The hotel has another wing that is closer to the sea and away from the road, I would recommend staying there though at 722 the noise was not bad at all.

The rooms themselves seemed almost identical except the club room had a rainfall shower as well as a bath.

Both rooms were a good size with bed, desk and chair. All the furtniture is dated, particularly the halways in the hotel room areas.

Cleaning is available all day and they have this app where you can order room service /cleaning etc. It works better in theory than practice.

The lobby is very grand with a waterfall and rainforest motif.

There are three swimming pools, the Lagoon pool which is more laid back. The chabbas pool which is the husiest and the thirs one which has less sports so there are less people. The third one has a jet pool in it.

The pools are great. Warm towels always available though sun loungers became scarce once we passed Christmas and hit peak. Never a problem at other times.

Location wise, the hotel sits on the northern edge of the beach/2nd road main baht bus route. It is about as far as I am willing to go north. It puts you within a decent range on Soi 6 and lower sois but can lead to long travel times to walkingstreet and Soi Diana etc 

The food wasnt the bedr and quite expensive. One of the downsides of resorts is how long it takes to walk out and get an alternative meal.

Conclusion:

If you are looking for a not too expensive resort style hotel but dont want to end up in bumfuck nowhere then it is a good choice. If ypu are a hardcore monger who has to pick girls up from the lobby regulary or pop in and out of your room then its probably not worth it.

I was travelling with my wife and she liked it. It wiuld add more steps for the solo traveller given the distances between the lobby, the entrance to the road etc.

Thanks for sharing this.  I stayed there once in 2018 and found it terrible for mongering, although they charged 1000 bhat joiner fee at that time, which really adds up after a couple encounters.  One tip I found is that there is a little gate in the back by the pool area that goes out to beach road.  It's a much shorter trip to go out that way.   You can buzz back in with your card at night, or there will be a security guard during the daytime.  I did take a girl in that way, but it's a bit risky not having her ID card at the front.  

When I was there they were redoing the beach, so it was all heavy machinery during the day. 

Excellent review. I've been considering Dusit Thani myself for a trip this June. It's a twoish week trip so I was thinking of doing the first week right in the guts of Soi6, leaning towards Queen Victoria Inn, and then spending the last 7 days at a beach side place to take all my touristy pics of the beach. 

I stayed there many moons ago and liked it but found it too far to walk to the gate so not at all convenient to pop in and out of.

I didn't know about the back gate, that might have helped.

I like a hotel that I can go back to easily for a shower, to collect cash, charge phone, take in a ST etc. The Dusit is just too far out for me.

I'm staying there in 2 weeks, at the Amari now, I like that both are situated close to Soi 6 and that they are a bit out of the way and quiet(er).

Keen to hear any other experiences.  Wife likes the look of the King Sea View rooms for a week in June but the Club kings look good as well. Hard to figure the differences in the booking app 

I’m in Patts this week so might pay them a visit to figure it out.

The room was identical from my perspective except that the club had a larger bathroom with a seperate rainfall shower to the main tub.

If I remember correctly the other room was just a tub with a shower in it.

I dropped in early this morning while out walking. 
The king Seaview and club rooms are essentially the same.  King sea views are on the 5th floor.  Club are on 6 and 7 she said, same. Building.   And club gets extra benefits …. For a price of course.  
They have this in their yard.. bonus 

So the time has come and now almost over.   We booked a club king Seaview room on the 8th.  
it’s on the wing closest to the road but furthest away and little to no road noise except on Gay Pride March day on the weekend.  

The lobby and grounds are all great.  Website pictures don’t lie

Similarly the room with a shower and bath along with a decent balcony
