Anyone know what the cost is for getting the medical exam and police clearance for a thai girl when applying for a fiance visa? Searched the net for hours without an answer. Cheers, Troy.

Hi Troy

I went through the process back in 2005. There was no cost for the Police Clearance which was submitted at the Thai Royal Police Headquaters on Rama in Bangkok.

I paid around $300 AUSD for the medical, but you have to use the approved panel doctors.

Don't know if you have looked yet, but I got all tmy information from this site: http://www.austembassy.or.th/bkok/home.html Its the Australian Embassy in Thailand.

You can always phone them (select the english option) and they can help. Also when you book the medical appointment they will tell you the cost, there's not much point trying to shop it for price, they are all about the same.

The biggest cost is the lodging the visa application, back then $1239.00 AUSD, again the current rates are on immi.gov.au

Hope this helps and works out for you. If you need anymore info just PM me.

When I was getting a tourist visa for a friend january last year, I was astounded at the 45,000 baht cost for a fiancee visa. They also said no refund if you dont get approval, but you can appeal the decision. The drop in the $A makes this a very expensive visa now.

That is the rate a visa company has given you obviously. Visa companies will vary in their rates.

You can complete the application yourself or use a visa business.

Thanks for the replies guys. I called the thai police and they couldnt tell me how much the clearance would cost, didnt bother asking why, the english - thai language barrier was a bit much. I have been told by others though that it is free....
