I am travelling to Thailand, Cambodia and Viet Nam for 60 days in January, i am flying into Bangkok and also leaving from there. I thought i wouldn't need to apply for a visa because i'm only in Thailand for 28 days but i have been told that because i came to Thailand in March i'm not allowed to travel more than 30 days withoit a 60 day visa even though i am not going to be in Thailand for 30 days. Are immigration likely to stop me when i enter thailand or shoud i go through the process of getting a 60 day visa, thanks.

Who told you that?

No need for visa, just have proof of onward travel within 30 days of arrival.

I phoned the Thai embassy in London, i think/hope the lady on the phone wasn't sure herself.

As long as you arrive by air, no problem. There is a rule that you can only get two visa exemptions by land border in a calendar year.

Embassies are often not a very good source of info for anything other than obtaining a visa (immigration is police.)
