Hi,

Experienced / frequent BM, please help me in understanding this news. Below are the few questions I have,

  1. If Visa is free, so I go to On Arrival Visa booth with filled form and without paying anything to them. They will just stamp on passport?
  2. As few travelers mentioned about show money of 10000bhat. Will they still ask us to show hard cash?
  3. Assuming I have money in the bank and my plan is to withdraw from ATM when hard cash is needed. Can I show my bank balance in mobile app for proving I have money? Do they accept it or ask us to withdraw money and come?
  4. Anything that needs to know about this Visa-free situation.
  5. For people planning to visit Thailand, How does this move feel? As close to 5000 INR (2200 Bhat) is saved.

PS : During my visit to Thailand in March 2023, they did not ask me anything. We just gave filled form, passport and money. The guys who took this in the start of line and asked us to sit on the bench and number token. Called out when stamping was done and He gave the passort to us. The staff created a kinda hurry burry and took 2200 from everyone though.

I feel this news gives an extra ST on the money saved on VISA

With Visa Exempt entry you just go straight to the Immigration desks and get stamped in for 30 days. You don’t need to go to the Visa on Arrival desk first.

I have never been asked for proof of funds but if they do ask it must be in cash - any hard currency.
