Ford Wildtrack - One Year Review

It’s been 12 months since I purchased my Ford Ranger Wildtrack new from the dealer in Udon Thani. I purchased the 2W version as I don’t do off roading, but with some additional options (including 360° camera) for 1.1 million THB.  Additional costs were 27,000 THB for a roller shutter to keep the rear of the Ute locked (important as my pride and joy golf clubs are in the back). I just had the car serviced recently for the first time (3,200 THB and all done and dusted in 90 minutes). I thought this might be a good opportunity to give you a one year review.

My missus does the heavy lifting when it comes to driving…she has a Honda City doing the school run and ferries my son around the city. I only use the Ranger to travel to golf on the other side of the city, so it has only traveled 6,800 kms since picking it up from the dealer in October 2022… as you would expect, it has been trouble free.

I find that the ride is quiet and smooth, indeed, it’s almost like being in a limo. Really comfy in the front and back and the Aircon is very effective. Driving in Thailand, you need as much protection around you as possible and I always feel safe in a big beast like the Ford Ranger.

The Ford Sync entertainment system is very easy to use, the IPad screen is clearly laid out, the sound reproduction is one of the best I have used and it links up easily with my iPhone.

Would I buy this car again? 100 per cent yes! From the off the experience with my local dealer was second to none (though it helps that my missus went to school with the head of sales at this particular Ford franchise). The vehicle is pitched at a competitive price and the dealer have since backed it up with quality servicing.

There have been no major issues and the Wildtrack is like a car to drive and great for both the the family and for golfing with mates. This isn’t my first Ute, as previously I used to enjoy driving an Isuzu, however, in terms of sophistication and driving enjoyment the Ranger wins hands down.
