Hotel or Condo

Hello fellow mongers

I have been visiting Pattaya for over a decade and have always stayed in a hotel where I have normally paid around 1,500B B&B, on Soi 5 3 min wal to the Beach Road.

Last two time, when I visited Pattaya, my usual hotel was closed and I stayed at the Amber hotel near Tree Town.

I am coming back in Dec'23 and was wondering if I should stay in one of the  nice condo near Jontiem Beach.

I usually like staying in hotels for the following reasons

  1. Security when bring back a guest
  2. Close to Beach Rd/Tree Town/ Soi 6/ Walking Street
  3. Breakfast available (if I can be bothered to get up in time)
  4. Room cleaned daily/daily towel change etc
  5. Nearby massage parlours/bars/restaurants/baht buses

If I were to stay in a condo, the drawbacks I have thought about are

  1. Security of bringing back a guest
  2. Not close to all the action
  3. Breakfast not available
  4. Cleaning the room etc
  5. Paying a security deposit which from some stories I have read/heard you can kiss goodbye
  6. Paying for electric/wifi seperately

Should I just stick to the hotels or go for a condo?

I cannot make up my mind and just wanted my fello mongers opinion

TIA

If you are staing in the same area for a month I would recommend a condo.

Security is up to you to check id of freelance girls or stick to only taking bar girls from trusted bars.

In the middle of the action, like the base or Vt6 or Grand Avenue.

Can make your own breakfast or breakfast is close enough.

Can get extra cleaning for about 600b each time.

As fare as security deposit or electric, try to find that don't require security and electricity is include.

In Airbnb I message and ask and only book the ones that suit my needs.

My questions:

The response:

She sent the above response and an invite to book, so booking would be automatic.

The below is part of my response after booking. This is to confirm what I expect.

You can get a condo in Pattaya.  VT6 right in the middle of things has owners that rent.  I think a guy on this board owns a few.

I was facing this decision and stayed at a couple hotels to figure out my location of choice and toured some of the condos. My final decision was staying at a guest house in LK Metro for a month (15k) because the price was so cheap, has daily cleaning/towels/water, and the location is great. I'm usually up until 2am anyway, so noise is no big deal and I enjoy going out for breakfast when I wake up (rather than worrying about the hotels schedule). Not sure that helps, but if your budget is 1k-1.5k per night, then i'd definitely do vt6 because having a cup of coffee or dinner on the balcony facing the ocean is bliss. The Base i'd avoid, small and lots of roaches in the units I toured.

I booked and hotel for the first days but checking for a condo/airbnb after.

Here's more questions to ask:

  • Are there common areas that I can access during my stay (e.g. living room, garden)
  • Ask what floor the listing is on and if there’s an elevator
  • What is your VISITOR POLICY
